About The Position

We’re seeking compassionate individuals who are excited to make a meaningful impact in a patient-focused environment at our outpatient facility in Basking Ridge, New Jersey. Ideal candidates will help create a welcoming and supportive atmosphere ensuring that everyone who walks through our doors feels cared for and valued. This is an unpaid volunteer role. The Volunteer Department does not oversee paid employment, internships, shadowing, or educational programs. Our program provides meaningful, long-term opportunities to support patients and staff.

Requirements

• Age 16+
• Available to commit to one 3-hour shift per week for a minimum of 6 months.
• If you’re a former or current MSK patient, you must be at least one year out of active treatment.
• Friendly, dependable, and comfortable interacting with patients, families and staff in a respectful and compassionate way.
• Virtual interview (based on scheduling needs and program fit)
• 2–3 reference checks
• Background check & drug screen ( 18+ only )
• Medical clearance (flu and other immunizations required; at applicant’s expense)
• Onboarding must be completed within 4-6 weeks.

Responsibilities

• Warmly welcome patients and caregivers upon arrival, setting a positive tone for their experience.
• Guide and support wayfinding by escorting visitors to their destinations or answering general inquiries.
• Foster comfort and connection by engaging in friendly conversation or offering reading materials.
• Assist with non-clinical items such as organizing supplies, restocking stations or offering warm blankets.
• Enhance the patient experience by supporting programs, special events and assisting patients navigate tools like MSK MyChart.
