Regional Vice President of Florida

LGETampa, FL
Onsite

About The Position

The Regional Vice President – Tampa will lead LGE Design Build's strategic entry and growth in the Florida market. This is a builder role, not an operator role: success is measured by the strength of the team this person recruits, develops, and empowers – not by how many tasks they personally execute. Florida is one of the company's most critical growth markets, and this leader will carry equal, balanced responsibility for building the region's business development pipeline and standing up disciplined, scalable operations. The right person brings high energy, an entrepreneurial mindset, and the ability to attract and retain top talent well ahead of where the market is today. This role is intentionally NOT a hands-on operator. Unlike a mature-market RVP who may fill in as PM or Superintendent when short-staffed, the Tampa RVP builds capacity through hiring – starting with one to two key leadership hires – rather than absorbing gaps personally. Reliance on backfilling gaps with the RVP's own labor is treated as a leading indicator that the team is under-built, not a normal course of business.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated track record of building and scaling a team or office from an early stage
  • High-energy, entrepreneurial leader with strong external presence; comfortable being the face of LGE in a new market.
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years' experience in the construction industry, including senior leadership experience managing regional operations or a comparable P&L.
  • Strong financial acumen: budget management, financial forecasting, and analysis.
  • Proven business development ability – not just relationship maintenance, but new market/new relationship creation.
  • Advanced knowledge of construction scheduling, construction management processes, means and methods, and relevant building codes and regulations.
  • Competent in conflict and crisis management may occur during a commercial construction project.
  • Familiar with construction project management software.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree or MBA preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit, develop, and retain a high-performing Florida team, and hold that team to clear standards of accountability.
  • Ensure zero recordable safety incidents across all Florida projects and subcontractors.
  • Drive client satisfaction to ensure Florida clients become referenceable, repeat, raving advocates for LGE.
  • Achieve signed Phase Development Agreements and AIA contracts to goal, tracked monthly as the region's core sales metric.
  • Ensure uncompromising adherence to LGE's integrated design-build process from preconstruction through closeout.
  • Recruit and hire the first one to two key leadership positions for the Tampa office (e.g., Director of Preconstruction and/or Director of Business Development), then build out the fuller leadership bench as volume justifies it.
  • Personally own recruiting as a core, ongoing function – not a one-time hiring event – building a pipeline of A-player talent ahead of need.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop direct reports using LGE's core values and the A player framework; delegate execution authority as the team matures rather than centralizing decisions.
  • Establish the Tampa office culture, cadence, and operating rhythm (team meetings, 1:1s, accountability structure) from the ground up.
  • Create succession depth so that no single project or client relationship depends solely on the RVP.
  • Build LGE's brand, reputation, and relationship network in the Tampa / Florida market from an earlier stage than a mature region requires – owners, brokers, engineers, and industry partners.
  • Develop and execute a market entry and growth strategy, including competitive positioning against established Florida design-build and GC firms.
  • Personally lead or co-lead pursuit strategy on priority opportunities and represent LGE at industry and client-facing events across the region.
  • Partner with the President on market sizing, target account strategy, and go/no-go pursuit decisions specific to Florida.
  • Build and manage a pipeline of business development opportunities, tracking conversion from pursuit to signed contract – with PDA and AIA execution as the core sales metrics to goal.
  • Drive the client experience across every pursuit and project so that Florida clients become referenceable, repeat, raving fans of LGE.
  • Oversee construction, estimating, and project delivery across the region through the leaders hired into those roles – not by directly running individual projects.
  • Own the financial performance of the Florida region: budgeting, forecasting, cost control, and profitability, reporting results to the President.
  • Set goals, monitor performance, and evaluate results against organizational and growth objectives for the region.
  • Assist in negotiation and review of Florida prime contracts alongside corporate counsel, prior to sending for final review.
  • Ensure each signed Florida project is properly set up in the construction management software program and staffed appropriately by the team (not personally staffed line-by-line by the RVP).
  • Maintain visibility into project schedules, permitting progress, and City review milestones through regular check-ins with the leadership team – not by personally attending every kickoff and submittal.
  • Establish and maintain the region's approved subcontractor and vendor network.
  • Resolve escalated issues involving subcontractors, clients, or municipalities that the team is unable to resolve at their level.
  • Own regional safety performance with a standing goal of zero recordable incidents, and build a safety-first culture across LGE staff and subcontractors alike.
  • Maintain uncompromising adherence to LGE's integrated design-build process – preconstruction through closeout – rather than defaulting to a traditional, siloed general-contracting sequence.
