Regional Veterinarian Medical Director | Partnership Opportunities
About The Position
Alliance Animal Health is seeking an experienced Regional Medical Director to provide medical leadership and clinical support to Lakeside Veterinary Hospital in Carbondale, Illinois, and Central Hospital for Animals in Herrin, Illinois. This hands-on leadership role combines continued clinical practice with mentoring veterinarians, strengthening clinical teams, and helping shape the future of both hospitals. The director will partner with hospital and regional leadership to support medical excellence, doctor development, and growth while respecting each hospital’s culture and medical autonomy. Partnership or ownership opportunities are available at both practices.
Requirements
- Current Illinois veterinary license or ability to obtain one.
- Strong clinical and surgical skills, with confidence in general practice medicine.
- Natural leadership ability and interest in teaching, coaching, and developing other veterinarians.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to balance clinical and leadership responsibilities.
- Collaborative approach to working with medical and operational leadership.
- Interest in long-term partnership and helping grow two established veterinary practices.
Nice To Haves
- Five or more years of clinical experience as a veterinarian preferred.
- Previous leadership or mentorship experience strongly preferred.
Responsibilities
- Provide medical leadership and support across both hospital teams.
- Continue practicing clinical medicine and serve as a resource for fellow veterinarians.
- Mentor and develop associate veterinarians, including early-career DVMs.
- Support clinical growth in surgery, diagnostics, case management, and overall quality of medicine.
- Partner with practice and regional leadership to identify opportunities for hospital growth.
- Foster a collaborative, positive, and high-performing culture.
- Help drive consistency in quality of care while respecting each hospital’s individuality and medical autonomy.
- Support doctor engagement, development, and retention across both practices.
