About The Position

The Regional Transportation Coordinator will be the regional Subject Matter Expert (SME) and Supplier Relationship Manager (SRM) providing transport excellence in all required modes for the specified region. This role is responsible for collaborating with customers, suppliers, terminals, and internal departments to identify the best solutions, planning and implementing transportation services that are economical, timely, visible, safe and compliant, and avoiding waste through continuous improvement. The Regional Transportation Coordinator will report to the Transportation Manager. The position will be based out of our Tampa, FL office and offer a hybrid work schedule.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or minimum 3 years of experience in a related field.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (e.g., Excel).
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or lawful permanent resident.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in supply chain or agriculture.
  • General knowledge of transport modes (Truck, Rail (Carload) & Barge).
  • SAP experience.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for regional transportation, addressing concerns and preferences of Regional Sales Managers (RSMs), understanding competitors, and supporting growth plans by reviewing/negotiating rates, responding to issues, and providing competitive transport intelligence.
  • Collaborate with RSMs to understand their regional strategy, current and future needs, and stay updated on changes.
  • Understand the concerns and preferences of terminals and other internal departments.
  • Develop and implement strategies for each mode/segment of transport within the region.
  • Develop strategies to support business growth, such as influencing suppliers to add resources or promoting existing suppliers to key status.
  • Identify supply chain risks and develop mitigation possibilities, considering factors like supplier reliability, backhauls, customer truck availability, and demand variables (e.g., vessel delays, product pricing, weather, tank size).
  • Collaborate with internal colleagues to alleviate potential problems before they negatively impact customers and to help streamline processes with a regional mindset.
  • Act as a Strategic Supplier Relationship Manager (SRM) to make Yara the preferred customer by treating suppliers respectfully, building trust, sharing information, offering fair prices, maintaining frequent communication, and ensuring timely payments.
  • Understand each supplier's historical support to Yara, including their geography, equipment, personnel, preferences, and growth plans.
  • Provide suppliers with forecasts and performance feedback, including daily/weekly updates and quarterly scorecards.
  • Provide world-class customer service that delivers a competitive advantage through preventative track-and-trace measures.
  • Negotiate competitive market rates for transportation services.
  • Meet expected timeframes for quotes, pickup, transit time, delivery, and Proof of Delivery (POD).
  • Maintain payment systems to ensure the accuracy of supplier payments for transport (excluding railcar asset management).
