About The Position

Encorp Pacific (Canada), also known as Return-It, is a not-for-profit product stewardship corporation based in British Columbia, with beverage container management as its primary focus. The organization is dedicated to developing and enhancing systems for the recovery and recycling of used beverage containers and end-of-life products, preventing them from ending up in landfills or incinerators. Encorp operates an extensive network of over 180 Return-It collection locations throughout British Columbia. Encorp is seeking a highly responsible and hands-on Regional Supervisor to manage the daily operations of multiple Return-It collection facilities within the Greater Vancouver Area. This role is responsible for the overall operational performance, staff leadership, customer service, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement across the assigned depots. The Regional Supervisor reports to the Senior Director – Plant Operations and Logistics and requires strong leadership, decision-making, and operational management capabilities. The successful candidate will lead and support Lead Associates and Associates across various locations, ensuring all return centers operate safely, efficiently, and in accordance with company policies, while promoting a positive, customer-centric culture.

  • Solid computer proficiency including effective use of Microsoft Office Applications such as Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams as well as experience with POS/POR systems, and reporting tools.
  • Must have a personal vehicle and driver’s license for travel to various return centres in the region.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum 2–5 years of supervisory or leadership experience, preferably in retail, recycling, logistics, or operations environments.
  • Experience handling cash, financial reconciliation, and reporting is preferred.
  • Occupational First Aid certification and/or safety training (e.g., WHMIS) is an asset or willingness to obtain.

Nice To Haves

  • Mechanical aptitude or ability to troubleshoot basic equipment issues is an asset.
  • Experience working with automated equipment or machinery is an asset.
  • Familiarity with recycling programs, depot operations, or environmental services is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and support the daily operations of multiple Return-It depots, ensuring efficiency, consistency, accuracy, and compliance with program guidelines.
  • Provide operational leadership, direction, and support to Lead Associates and Associates across assigned locations.
  • Conduct regular site visits to monitor operational performance, facility standards, staffing effectiveness, and customer experience.
  • Lead scheduling and workforce planning to ensure appropriate staffing coverage and operational continuity across depots.
  • Ensure accurate counting and processing of beverage container returns through various technologies and automated sorting systems.
  • Ensure delivery of a consistently high standard of customer service across all assigned depots.
  • Support team leads and frontline staff in resolving escalated customer inquiries, concerns, and complaints professionally and effectively.
  • Oversee health and safety at various depots, ensuring all protocols and procedures are followed.
  • Work with Leads to conduct regular safety checks and proactively identify and address hazards.
  • Ensure all staff are trained and compliant with safety standards and workplace requirements.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe environment for employees and customers.
  • Oversee operation and maintenance of equipment.
  • Ensure preventative maintenance schedules are followed and documented.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve equipment issues; coordinate with technical support and escalate as needed.
  • Ensure safe and proper use of pallet jacks and other material-handling equipment.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, training, development, and performance feedback to teams leads and frontline staff across assigned depots.
  • Collaborate with Corporate HR on recruitment, onboarding, workforce planning, performance management, disciplinary actions, and terminations, ensuring alignment with company policies and employment standards.
  • Foster a positive, accountable, and high-performing team culture across all assigned depots.
  • Support succession planning and employee development initiatives.
  • Address performance concerns proactively and escalate significant issues as appropriate.
  • Report on depot performance, issues, and key metrics to the Senior Director – Plant Operations and Logistics.
  • Maintain clear and timely communication regarding operational challenges, staffing, and compliance.
  • Support implementation of company initiatives and programs at the depot level.
