About The Position

The Regional School Site Director, Redwood City provides leadership and oversight across BGCP’s Redwood City K-8 school site programs, ensuring consistent program quality, strong site leadership, and effective operations. This role develops site leaders, monitors program performance, and partners with school and district leaders to meet the needs of students and families. As a member of BGCP’s K-8 Leadership Team, this role supports consistent implementation of BGCP’s program model and organizational priorities. This position reports to the Vice President of K-8 Programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, youth development, nonprofit management, organizational leadership, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
  • 7-10 years of progressive experience in K-8 education, expanded learning, youth development, nonprofit programming, or a related field, including experience leading teams and programs
  • Demonstrated leadership experience managing, coaching, and developing site leaders who oversee teams and programs
  • Experience overseeing multiple programs or sites and creating consistent practices across locations
  • Strong understanding of youth development principles and high-quality expanded learning practices
  • Experience using program data and performance metrics to assess program quality, identify areas for improvement, and guide decision-making
  • Experience developing and managing program or site budgets and effectively managing resources
  • Strong relationship-building and communication skills with the ability to effectively partner with youth, families, school and district leaders, community partners, and cross-functional stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate across teams, navigate challenges, make sound decisions, and balance multiple priorities
  • Knowledge of safety, compliance, and program requirements within expanded learning or youth-serving environments
  • Commitment to equity and to creating high-quality opportunities and outcomes for youth from diverse backgrounds

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and oversight across Redwood City K-8 school sites to ensure high-quality, safe, and consistent programming
  • Monitor site performance through regular observations, program data, staff feedback, and partner input
  • Identify trends, strengths, and areas for improvement across sites and partner with site leaders to develop and implement improvement plans
  • Ensure consistent implementation of BGCP program models, expectations, systems, and priorities across the region
  • Partner with instructional and program teams to establish regional and site-level priorities based on student and program needs
  • Monitor student enrollment and retention trends across the region and partner with site leaders to develop and implement student recruitment and retention strategies based on site needs
  • Manage, coach, and develop site leaders to strengthen leadership effectiveness, program quality, team culture, and site performance
  • Facilitate regular 1:1 meetings with direct reports to review goals, performance, staffing, program quality, and site priorities
  • Lead regional team meetings that create alignment, shared accountability, problem-solving, and consistency across sites
  • Set clear expectations and provide ongoing feedback, coaching, and performance management
  • Support site leaders in developing strong teams, addressing performance concerns, and creating positive and inclusive staff cultures
  • Partner with site leaders and the People Team to anticipate staffing needs, address vacancies, and maintain appropriate staffing levels across the region
  • Support site leaders with hiring, onboarding, retention, performance management, and employee transitions as appropriate
  • Identify leadership development opportunities and support the growth and retention of strong site leaders
  • Serve as a key BGCP relationship manager with Redwood City school and district partners
  • Build trusted, collaborative relationships with school and district leaders to maintain alignment on program goals, student needs, and operational priorities
  • Meet regularly (bi-weekly or monthly) with district partners to review program performance, share updates, address challenges, and identify opportunities for improvement
  • Ensure strong communication and coordination between BGCP site leaders and school/district partners
  • Create opportunities for district and school partners to observe and engage with BGCP programming
  • Partner with site leaders and internal teams to address emerging school or district needs and ensure timely resolution of concerns
  • Ensure site leaders consistently implement BGCP, school district, and BGCA operational and safety expectations
  • Ensure site safety and emergency plans are current, understood, and implemented consistently
  • Monitor the accuracy and completeness of required program and district data
  • Conduct regular audits of ASES/ELOP and other required data across BGCP and district systems
  • Ensure regional systems are in place for program materials, emergency supplies, purchasing, inventories, and operational requests
  • Partner with internal teams to resolve operational, technology, facilities, compliance, and staffing needs impacting program delivery
  • Develop annual site budgets in partnership with site leaders and appropriate internal partners
  • Monitor regional and site-level spending to ensure responsible management of organizational resources
  • Review budgets and expenses regularly with site leaders and address variances as needed
  • Coach site leaders on effective budget management and financial accountability
  • Monitor staffing expenses, including hourly labor and overtime, and partner with site leaders to make appropriate adjustments
  • Ensure resources are allocated effectively based on program and site needs
  • Perform additional relevant duties as assigned to support evolving organizational needs
