About The Position

The Regional Sales Manager - Turf is responsible for driving sales growth, developing strategic customer relationships, and expanding market share within the assigned territory. This role manages and grows a portfolio of turf industry customers including golf courses, sports complexes, municipalities, landscapers, distributors, and turf management professionals. The Regional Sales Manager serves as a trusted advisor to customers by providing technical expertise, identifying business opportunities, and delivering solutions that improve turf performance and operational results.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Agronomy, Turfgrass Management, Agriculture, Horticulture, or related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Strong communication, presentation, negotiation, and influencing skills.
  • Proficiency with CRM systems and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to travel extensively within assigned territory (50-75%).

Nice To Haves

  • 5+ years of successful outside sales experience.
  • Knowledge of turf, golf, landscaping, agriculture, irrigation, equipment, or related industries.
  • Demonstrated ability to build long-term customer relationships and close complex sales opportunities.
  • Turfgrass management, golf course, sports field, or landscaping industry experience.
  • Certified Turfgrass Professional (CTP), Certified Sports Field Manager (CSFM), or related certification.
  • Knowledge of agronomic practices, turf nutrition, pest management, irrigation systems, or turf equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute strategic territory sales plans to achieve and exceed revenue, margin, and market share objectives.
  • Identify, prospect, and secure new business opportunities across golf, sports turf, municipal, commercial landscaping, and other turf-related markets.
  • Maintain and expand relationships with existing customers through consultative selling and regular account management.
  • Develop annual business plans for key accounts and distributors.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and emerging opportunities within the turf industry.
  • Generate accurate sales forecasts and maintain a robust sales pipeline.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for customers within the assigned region.
  • Conduct regular customer visits, product demonstrations, field evaluations, and business reviews.
  • Partner with superintendents, grounds managers, athletic field managers, landscape contractors, and purchasing decision-makers to identify solutions that meet operational needs.
  • Resolve customer concerns and coordinate resources to ensure exceptional service and customer retention.
  • Represent the company at industry events, conferences, trade shows, and association meetings.
  • Provide technical expertise regarding turf products, agronomic practices, equipment, or services.
  • Collaborate with agronomy, operations, marketing, and customer support teams to deliver value-added solutions.
  • Conduct product training and educational presentations for customers and distributors.
  • Develop knowledge of industry best practices and emerging technologies impacting turf management.
  • Partner cross-functionally with marketing, product development, customer service, operations, and finance teams.
  • Share marketplace insights and customer feedback to support future business strategies.
  • Participate in regional and national sales meetings.
  • Mentor junior sales representatives when appropriate.
