About The Position

This field-based role involves working directly with a Sales Representative to aid in the planning, directing, and coordination of selling, marketing, and promotion of Stryker products. The associate will cover for Stryker employees on leaves of absence or support other business coverage needs. Responsibilities include maintaining strong customer relationships, traveling frequently (sometimes on short notice) to perform sales tasks, and providing coverage in multiple territories. The role requires meeting budgeted objectives to achieve maximum profitability and volume.

Requirements

  • Must be able to handle routine overnight travel on short notice, for extended periods of time.
  • 1-2 years in an outside sales position (medical related fields is preferable).
  • B.A. or B.S. degree required.
  • Field sales training--In field training.
  • Successful completion of in-house product training program.
  • Computer training.
  • Medium work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • Must be able to communicate with large groups of people.
  • Must be able to communicate telephonically.
  • Must be able to use common office equipment.
  • Must be able to drive an automobile.
  • Must have command of all products, including functionality, features, and factors that differentiate Stryker products from its competitors’ products, and be able to disseminate this knowledge to the customer.

Responsibilities

  • Assists Sales Representatives in the marketing, promoting, and selling Stryker products when not covering for leaves of absence or supporting other business coverage needs.
  • Responsible for marketing, promoting, and selling Stryker products and maintaining strong, positive customer relationships when covering for employees on leaves of absence or while supporting other business coverage needs.
  • Travels, many times on short notice, to perform sales associated tasks in multiple territories across the country, sometimes for extended periods of time, to assist with coverage for employees on leaves of absence and to support other business coverage needs.
  • Educates and informs doctors, nurses, and appropriate staff personnel as to the proper use and maintenance of Stryker products, product functionality and updates, changes to product portfolio, and educational programs.
  • Tailors Stryker’s promotional message based upon knowledge of the customer, advises on appropriate product selection, answers customer questions about product functionality, and distinguishes Stryker products from those of Stryker’s competitors.
  • Directs product evaluations in OR and office settings.
  • May assist in the preparation and operation of trade shows, conventions, and/or clinical meetings.
  • Keeps regional manager informed of territory progress on a regular basis.
  • Solves product problems for customers in an expeditious fashion.
  • Manages and maintains a sample inventory of products.
  • Understands and adheres to all OR and pertinent OSHA guidelines when conducting a product evaluation.
  • Exhibits a base understanding of computers for best utilization of Stryker SIS program.
  • Adheres rigidly to all GMP policies and procedures as stipulated by the FDA.
  • Routinely negotiates price and terms of transactions between Stryker and its customers.
  • Readily solves customer complaints and questions and provides excellent customer service.
  • Analyzes territory market potential and prioritizes call patterns accordingly.
