About The Position

The Regional Safety Manager is responsible for promoting a safe, compliant, and proactive work environment across multiple geotechnical construction projects. This role ensures compliance with federal, state, local, and company safety requirements through jobsite inspections, audits, training, and collaboration with project teams. By providing safety leadership, risk management guidance, and operational support, the Regional Safety Manager helps foster a strong safety culture and drives continuous improvement throughout all phases of construction. This position reports to the Corporate Safety Director.

Requirements

  • Minimum of three (3) years of Environmental Health and Safety experience in the construction industry.
  • OSHA 30-Hour Construction Outreach Certification required.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Strong working knowledge of OSHA, Cal/OSHA, EPA, and applicable construction safety regulations.
  • Knowledge of hazard recognition, risk assessment, incident investigation, and corrective action processes.
  • Ability to effectively deliver safety training and engage field personnel.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and mentoring skills.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with project teams and management.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and safety management software.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment in sensitive situations.
  • Frequent presence on active construction sites.
  • Ability to walk uneven terrain, climb ladders, access active construction sites, and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to wear and utilize required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to travel regularly to active construction projects, offices, training events, and company meetings as needed.
  • Willingness to spend significant time in the field supporting operations and conducting site visits, audits, investigations, and training activities.
  • Occasional overnight travel may be required.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel independently to various project locations.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in Safety and Health Management, Occupational Safety and Health, Environmental Health and Safety, Construction Management, or a related field preferred.
  • Prior field construction experience preferred.
  • Experience supporting multiple construction projects and field teams preferred.
  • CSP (Certified Safety Professional), CHST (Construction Health and Safety Technician), OSHA 500, or similar professional certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct and review jobsite safety audits and inspections with Project Management teams.
  • Evaluate project safety performance using leading and lagging indicators and recommend corrective actions as needed.
  • Advise, coach, and support employees and supervisors on safety-related topics, regulatory compliance, and best practices.
  • Participate in and support weekly safety meetings and project safety reviews.
  • Attend pre-construction meetings, planning meetings, and project coordination meetings to address safety requirements and ensure compliance.
  • Develop, review, and administer Site-Specific Safety Plans (SSSPs), Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs), and other safety documentation.
  • Ensure employees receive required safety training and maintain current certifications.
  • Facilitate new employee safety orientations and ongoing safety training programs.
  • Conduct field observations and provide coaching to reinforce safe work practices.
  • Lead incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective action development.
  • Report incidents and claims to insurance carriers and coordinate follow-up activities as required.
  • Manage workers' compensation claims and coordinate employee return-to-work programs until employees are released to full duty.
  • Prepare and present reports regarding incidents, injuries, trends, corrective actions, and overall safety performance.
  • Track corrective actions and verify timely completion.
  • Maintain compliance with OSHA, Cal/OSHA, client requirements, and company policies.
  • Partner with Operations leadership to proactively identify and mitigate project risks.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of corporate safety initiatives, policies, and procedures.
