Regional Safety Manager
About The Position
ProspectBlue is seeking a Regional Safety Manager to lead and oversee safety operations across an assigned geographic region. This role is responsible for implementing the company's safety strategy, ensuring compliance with all applicable federal, state, local, and client-specific regulations, and fostering a strong, proactive safety culture throughout the region. The Regional Safety Manager partners closely with operational leadership to integrate safety into all aspects of project execution while providing leadership, coaching, and development for the regional safety team. This position supports projects throughout Northern Virginia and Delaware and requires frequent travel within the assigned territory. The role is based in Middle River, Maryland. Candidate will be in office or on job site. No hybrid or remote options.
Requirements
- 7–10 years of construction safety experience, including at least 3 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
- Strong working knowledge of OSHA regulations, construction safety standards, and industry best practices.
Nice To Haves
- Experience in specialty construction environments such as industrial, mechanical, power generation, or heavy civil projects is strongly preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Construction Management, or a related discipline preferred.
- Professional safety certifications such as CSP, ASP, CHST, or OHST are preferred.
Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and support a team of regional safety professionals, including Area Safety Managers, Safety Coordinators, and Safety Specialists.
- Establish performance expectations, provide regular coaching, and conduct performance evaluations.
- Promote consistent implementation of company safety policies, procedures, and standards across all regional projects.
- Identify growth opportunities and support the ongoing development and succession planning of safety personnel.
- Execute corporate safety initiatives and ensure successful implementation throughout the region.
- Monitor compliance with OSHA regulations, state and local requirements, and client-specific safety standards.
- Oversee incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective action plans to prevent future occurrences.
- Track and analyze regional safety metrics, including both leading and lagging indicators, to measure program effectiveness and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Collaborate with Regional Operations Leadership to incorporate safety into project planning, execution, and decision-making.
- Serve as the regional safety expert for complex and high-risk construction activities.
- Perform routine field audits, site inspections, and safety observations to verify compliance with safe work practices.
- Represent the safety department during pre-construction meetings, bid reviews, and client discussions.
- Champion a culture where safety is a shared responsibility and accountability exists at every level of the organization.
- Develop and support recognition programs and engagement initiatives that encourage safe behaviors.
- Act as a trusted advisor to project teams by providing practical solutions to safety challenges before they become issues.
