About The Position

The Regional Safety Manager is a senior, field-level safety leader who owns all workplace safety and workers’ compensation outcomes across their assigned coast (East or West) — including all Vesta Home and Showroom Interiors locations, acquired companies, and partner facilities within that geography. The Regional Safety Manager spends significant time on the floor and in the field, acts as the primary safety authority across their region, and is a direct driver of the company’s Safety Program. They carry responsibility for the program’s active milestones, including key pillars in incident reporting, return-to-work, claims management, safety training, and compliance. The Regional Safety Manager serves as the senior escalation point for all safety and workers’ compensation matters in their region. They report directly to the Director of Safety & Continuous Improvement (CI). Applicants must be located in New York (NY), Florida (FL), or California (CA) to be considered for this position. This position offers a base salary of $75,000, plus a target bonus.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of progressive experience in safety, EHS, workers’ compensation, or operations risk — with at least 2 years in a multi-site or regional capacity.
  • Demonstrated experience managing workers’ compensation claims with a TPA or carrier end-to-end: from first report through claim closure.
  • Deep familiarity with Cal/OSHA and federal OSHA requirements: IIPP, heat illness prevention, hazard communication, recordkeeping.
  • Experience managing or mentoring staff in EHS protocols and procedures.
  • Comfortable spending the majority of your time in the field — warehouses, logistics facilities, showrooms.
  • Exceptional organizational discipline: clean records, complete files, no documentation gaps.
  • Strong communicator across all levels — warehouse crew, supervisors, outside counsel, insurance adjusters, and C-suite leadership.
  • Proven ability to develop and roll out safety training programs, SOPs, and onboarding frameworks.
  • Ability to manage a regional on-call safety line and respond to urgent incidents outside business hours when needed.

  • OSHA 30-Hour General Industry card.
  • Prior experience with Helmsman, Liberty Mutual, or Sedgwick as a TPA.
  • Experience with HSI, Samsara, or Dash by Foley platforms.
  • Experience leading safety integration for acquired businesses or multi-brand environments.
  • Forklift certification or willingness to obtain.
  • CSP (Certified Safety Professional) or ARM (Associate in Risk Management) designation.
  • Familiarity with NY workers’ comp requirements and CA mental stress presumption laws.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain full safety ownership across all regional locations — warehouses, showrooms, field operations, and acquired facilities — through regular scheduled walkthroughs and unannounced site visits.
  • Be an active, visible floor presence; model safe behaviors, hold leadership accountable, and serve as the primary on-call safety contact for the region.
  • Triage, document, and follow up on all inbound safety communications from supervisors, employees, and coordinators within required timeframes.
  • Manage workers’ compensation from first report to claim closure, serving as the named senior regional contact for TPA adjusters and all claims-related communications.
  • Maintain complete, defensible claim files for every open case; identify unusual patterns such as late reporting, post-termination filings, or repeated claimants and escalate appropriately.
  • Lead strategy on high-value or litigated claims in coordination with outside counsel, HR, and the Director of Safety & CI; conduct independent file reviews targeting aging and high-reserve cases.
  • Track and report structurally elevated cost items — including reserve levels, litigation posture, and EMR impact — on a quarterly basis.
  • Maintain injury attestations, JHA acknowledgments, and Evidence Defense Packets for all claims.
  • Lead rapid response for serious incidents and use ISO ClaimSearch to screen for fraud.
  • Assess new facilities within 30 days and deliver remediation plans for acquisitions.
  • Train acquired staff on Vesta's IIPP, PPE, HSI, and Golden Hour protocols within 90 days.
  • Coordinate system enrollment and brief the Director of Safety & CI on integration within 60 days.
  • Oversee injury responses and ensure consistent regional execution of Golden Hour protocols.
  • Lead toolbox talks, verify PPE/equipment safety, and manage forklift certifications.
  • Maintain OSHA 300 Logs and IIPP records while promoting near-miss reporting.
  • Provide written Modified Duty Offers same-day to avoid unnecessary TTD transitions.
  • Manage regional bridge job catalogs and document injured employee progress in HSI.
  • Partner with HR to deploy validated pre-hire integrity and physical ability screenings.
  • Analyze hiring data against WC outcomes to mitigate risk and improve hire quality.
  • Ensure OSHA log accuracy and collaborate with CI to manage PPE and training records.
  • Report monthly safety metrics and support actuarial modeling for carrier reviews.
  • Train regional leaders on reporting and incident protocols to embed safety KPIs.
  • Cultivate regional shared accountability through peer-to-peer safety observations.
  • Collaborate with CI to archive regional training, forklift, and PPE inventory data.
  • Provide regional metrics to the Director of Safety & CI monthly for C-suite dashboards.
  • Supply accurate claim and lag-time data for actuarial EMR projections.
  • Prepare data for carrier reviews and support standalone workers' comp transitions.
  • Train all leadership in your region on the Golden Hour card, incident documentation, modified duty processes, and HSI reporting requirements.
  • Embed safety KPIs into operations manager performance conversations; partner with the Director of Safety & CI on accountability structures.
  • Build peer-to-peer safety observation capability across your region.
