About The Position

We are one of the largest mechanical, electrical, and plumbing contractors in Indiana and among the preeminent specialty contractors in the nation. We specialize in a full range of new and retrofit construction for industrial, food processing, commercial, institutional, healthcare, pharmaceutical, and bio-fuel projects. Shambaugh & Son is seeking a Regional Safety Coordinator. In this role you will be responsible for performing construction safety services in a professional manner resulting in no injuries, successful project completions, and a safe working environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelors in safety management or relevant field is preferred
  • 5 years of construction safety experience or 10 years of construction work experience
  • Can communicate clearly and effectively, in both written and oral work
  • All applicants must have legal authorization to work in the United States
  • Proven experience as safety manager
  • Deep understanding of legal health and safety guidelines
  • Ability in producing reports and developing relevant policies
  • Good knowledge of data analysis and risk assessment
  • Excellent organizational and motivational skills
  • Outstanding attention to detail and observation ability
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Valid qualifications / Certifications in occupational health and safety
  • Ability to travel
  • Regular and reliable attendance, including the ability to work extended hours and weekends as required

Responsibilities

  • Developing and execute health and safety plans according to corporate and legal guidelines
  • Prepare and enforce policies to establish a culture of health and safety
  • Evaluating practices, procedures and facilities to assess risk and adherence to corporate policy and the law
  • Ensure everyone in the company complies with health and safety laws.
  • Excellent attention to detail to identify hazards.
  • Identify opportunities to improving conditions and execute various safety programs.
  • Effectively communicate guidelines to a multidisciplinary workforce is essential,
  • Ensure the workplace meets all legal expectations and actively supports occupational health and safety.
  • Conduct training and presentations for health and safety matters and accident prevention
  • Monitor compliance with policies and laws by inspecting employees and operations
  • Inspect equipment and machinery to observe possible unsafe conditions
  • Investigate accidents or incidents to discover causes and handle worker’s compensation claims
  • Recommend solutions to issues, improvement opportunities or new prevention measures
  • Report on health and safety awareness, issues and statistics
  • Prepare job specific safety procedures
  • Inspect job safety
  • All other duties as assigned
