About The Position

Generations Family Health Center (GFHC) is a non-profit, regional Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) serving eastern Connecticut since 1984. We provide comprehensive primary care, behavioral health, oral health, and case management services, primarily to medically underserved populations. We are seeking a Regional Registered Nurse Lead to join our team, offering a meaningful patient care experience without the burnout of hospital shifts. Our RNs are respected clinical partners who practice at the top of their license in a collaborative, mission-driven environment. Requirements

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Connecticut.
  • Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) / Basic Life Support (BLS).
  • Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience in ambulatory care, primary care, community health, or medical office setting preferred.
  • Strong understanding of outpatient clinical workflows, infection prevention and control practices, laboratory and point-of-care testing procedures, vaccine management, and general regulatory/compliance standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and support day-to-day clinical operations across multiple sites.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills are required.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, coordinate clinical initiatives, and support workflow implementation in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • Experience with staff onboarding, clinical support, workflow guidance, vaccine inventory coordination, and/or competency assistance preferred.
  • Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR), standing orders, and outpatient clinical procedures preferred.
  • Experience in a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) or community health setting preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a senior clinical resource and support leader across assigned GFHC sites.
  • Provide direct patient care and clinical coverage for approximately 80% of scheduled work time.
  • Support nursing practice standardization, onboarding, competency development, quality initiatives, and workflow improvement for approximately 20% of scheduled work time.
  • Promote consistency in clinical practice, support staff development, and assist with the implementation of nursing initiatives.
  • Help ensure compliance with organizational policies, procedures, regulatory requirements, and quality standards.
  • Strengthen communication, coordination, and continuity of nursing services across multiple locations.
  • Perform clinical responsibilities including direct patient care, triage, clinical support to clinicians, nursing interventions, patient education, care coordination, and assistance with maintaining efficient daily clinic operations.
  • Provide clinical coverage during staffing vacancies, leaves of absence, periods of increased patient volume, and other operational needs.
  • Support new employee onboarding and preceptorship.
  • Assist with nursing competency validation.
  • Conduct workflow observations.
  • Support quality improvement initiatives.
  • Assist with the implementation of clinical policies and procedures.
  • Promote adherence to evidence-based nursing practices.
  • Serve as a resource for nursing staff across all assigned locations.
  • Support vaccine program oversight and serve as a designated primary or backup Vaccine Coordinator.
  • Maintain current knowledge of immunization schedules, vaccine storage and handling requirements, and applicable state and federal vaccine program requirements.
  • Support vaccine inventory and compliance activities.
  • Participate in vaccine program audits and site reviews.
  • Assist with the implementation of state and organizational vaccine initiatives.
