About The Position

Midway Mechanical Services is seeking a Regional Project Accountant to support our growing Pacific Northwest operations. In this role, you'll partner with Project Managers, Operations, and Finance to monitor project financial performance, manage job costing, and ensure accurate project reporting from project startup through completion. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced construction environment where their work directly impacts project success.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of accounting experience with project accounting, job costing, or construction accounting.
  • Experience in commercial construction, mechanical contracting, HVAC, or a related project-based industry is strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of general accounting principles, job costing, and project financial reporting.
  • Experience using ERP or accounting systems such as NetSuite, QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle, or similar platforms.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including Pivot Tables and VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills with exceptional attention to detail.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Experience with construction accounting software such as Davisware Vision, NetSuite, Vista, Foundation, Sage, or similar ERP systems.
  • Experience with Work-in-Progress (WIP) reporting and percentage-of-completion accounting.
  • Knowledge of lien waivers, retainage, subcontractor compliance, and 1099 reporting.
  • Experience supporting multiple companies or regional operations.
  • Familiarity with construction job cost structures, project forecasting, and cost code management.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate project job cost records by reviewing accounts payable, labor, material, and subcontractor costs.
  • Review and code vendor invoices to the appropriate jobs, phases, and cost codes.
  • Prepare and analyze project cost reports to support Project Managers and Operations leaders.
  • Assist with Work-in-Progress (WIP) reporting, project accruals, and month-end close activities.
  • Review and process job-cost timecards and labor allocations.
  • Monitor project budgets, committed costs, purchase orders, subcontract agreements, and change orders.
  • Partner with Project Managers to analyze budget variances, forecast project costs, and identify financial risks.
  • Assist with vendor payment processing, lien waivers, retainage tracking, and subcontractor compliance.
  • Maintain accurate accounting records and supporting documentation for audits and financial reporting.
  • Collaborate with Finance and Operations to improve project financial performance and profitability.
