About The Position

Velvet Taco is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic People Operations Manager to join their Tribe at the Restaurant Support Office. This role reports directly to the Director of People Operations and collaborates with the Restaurant Support Office and Field Operations teams to ensure proper staffing and compliance with support policies and procedures across all Velvet Taco restaurants. The primary responsibilities include full-cycle recruiting, onboarding, employee relations, and retention initiatives. The ideal candidate will be a brand ambassador with a strong recruiting background, knowledge of current industry trends, and leadership experience. This individual will serve as the main point of contact for Directors of Operations and restaurants in their assigned regions for all People-related needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field required (human resources, communications, management, hospitality)
  • Minimum 3+ years recruiting
  • Expert knowledge in using Internet-based recruiting techniques, including social networking sites, hiring platforms, and online job boards, is required
  • Works well independently and as a member of a team
  • Ability to partner and manage cross-functionally
  • Professionally handles time-sensitive/confidential information appropriately
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with articulate presentation and facilitation skills
  • Exceptional organizational skills

Nice To Haves

  • Restaurant, retail, or high-volume multi-unit industry experience preferred.
  • PHR, SPHR certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Manages the full-cycle recruiting process, including sourcing, screening, scheduling interviews, drafting offer letters, and administering background checks and I-9 documentation for all management positions.
  • Assists with all onboarding and offboarding duties, including administering or facilitating new-hire paperwork, conducting I-9 Verifications as necessary, and ensuring compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Partners with the Director of Operations, supporting one of the regions by identifying hiring needs and selecting top talent to meet the company’s long-term growth plans.
  • Identifies a high-quality pool of internal and external candidates through utilizing various online job boards, networking, and referral programs.
  • Coordinates travel for candidates during the interview process and for managers training out of state when necessary.
  • Acts as an internal consultant, training and educating Hiring Managers on talent acquisition processes and modeling best practices.
  • Manages Applicant Tracking System (Paycom) by maintaining daily workflow of candidates and posting new positions.
  • Drafts hiring ads and job posting verbiage to attract top talent.
  • Documents and maintains employee relations efforts with the support of the Director of People Operations.
  • Demonstrates out-of-the-box thinking to develop new Talent Acquisition strategies to support long-term growth plans and keep us cutting edge.
  • Participates in weekly People Calls and Quarterly GM meetings.
  • Attends NRO Kickoff meetings, manages hiring campaigns, and keeps the team in the loop on staffing progress.
  • Manages recruiting budget spend by both staying within guidelines and using all available resources to fill positions.
