About The Position

The Regional Operations Manager is responsible for supporting and enforcing all safety, governmental, and Company procedures while meeting operational goals. This role focuses on promoting the most efficient use of cylinder assets, vehicle assets, and plant assets, while optimizing costs by reducing production, distribution, and cylinder maintenance expenses. The position also involves recommending and overseeing the region's allocation of capital investments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Business Management, Industrial Management or related field.
  • Driver's license.
  • Knowledge of gas production/filling and distribution operations, methods, and practices.
  • Ability to develop personnel and equipment structures to support present and future operations.
  • Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead people and get results through others.
  • Ability to plan over a 30-day time span and prepare action plans to achieve results.
  • Supervision skills, including employee hiring and retention, performance management and discipline.
  • Ability to balance and achieve positive results in safety, quality, productivity, cost, and employee relations.
  • Inventory management skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong team player.
  • Computer skills include MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Proven ability to communicate clearly and effectively with associates, vendors, and customers in a wide variety of situations.
  • Exposure to and understanding of applicable regulations as defined by DOT, OSHA, FDA, CGA, EPA, and NFPA.

Nice To Haves

  • 1 to 3 years of experience in a gas production or distribution environment.
  • Two years of supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure branch locations operate in accordance with industry regulations, Company procedures, and safety standards (including FDA, OSHA, DOT, EPA, NFPA).
  • Maintain the highest safety and quality standards for production and distribution through communication, audit follow-up, training, and enforcement of procedures and regulations.
  • Conduct accident investigations to determine root causes and recommend corrective actions.
  • Train and guide Customer Service Managers and branch employees in safety, production, and distribution techniques.
  • Assure efficient utilization of cylinder assets by monitoring and controlling stocking levels at all branches within the region.
  • Optimize vehicle and production equipment utilization within the region by monitoring distribution volumes/routes and recommending/implementing improvements or consolidations.
  • Monitor and recommend investments related to cylinders, vehicles, forklifts, production equipment, and facility items.
  • Oversee the maintenance of equipment, vehicles, and buildings at all regional branch locations.
  • Provide input into location operating and planning budgets, monitor plans and goals, and offer suggestions to improve service and decrease overall cost.
  • Actively participate in the integration of operations for any acquisitions within the region.
  • Ensure locations meet customer service and quality expectations.
  • Develop and monitor operational staffing levels and productivity performance.
  • Ensure support of all customer service and sales efforts by maintaining high productivity, controlling costs, reinforcing safety efforts, and encouraging morale.
  • Work to continuously improve processes in all areas and provide recommendations for increased department efficiency or cost reduction initiatives.
  • Manage leading and lagging safety indicators.
  • Monitor operating costs, including cost per cylinder filled and delivered, and vehicle and cylinder utilization.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
