About The Position

The Regional Operations Manager oversees all field operations for residential solar projects within their designated branch. This role is the primary driver of operational excellence, responsible for leading, hiring, and training high-performing teams of solar installers and service technicians. The Manager ensures every project is completed with maximum quality and efficiency by bridging the gap between the warehouse, project management team, and the job site.

Requirements

  • 5+ years in residential solar operations, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role overseeing field installation and/or service teams.
  • Proven track record managing high-volume residential solar projects (50+ installs/year preferred).
  • Strong understanding of residential PV systems, including roof-mounted and ground-mounted installations, electrical integration, inverters, battery storage, and monitoring platforms.
  • Familiarity with NABCEP guidelines, NEC codes, OSHA standards, and common permitting/interconnection processes.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and team-building skills.
  • Proficiency with solar project management tools (e.g., Salesforce, Enphase/Enlighten, Tesla, Solaredge).
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities; ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Data-driven mindset with experience tracking KPIs and driving performance improvements.
  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, business, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience).
  • NABCEP PV Installation Professional certification (or willingness to obtain within first year) strongly preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required.

  • Experience in a regional/multi-state operations role.
  • Background managing both new installations and post-PTO service/warranty work.
  • Comfortable with technology and process automation to reduce administrative burden on field teams.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily appointment scheduling, dispatching, and real-time status updates across all active installation and service work orders.
  • Ensure field teams update project management software/CRM (Salesforce-Field Service) daily with accurate progress notes, photos, completion status, change orders, and any issues/delays.
  • Monitor and resolve scheduling conflicts, weather-related adjustments, permitting delays, or material shortages to minimize downtime and maintain high project completion rates.
  • Actively troubleshoot and problem solve with team members on site to avoid go backs.
  • Review all active residential solar projects daily to verify scope, quality, feasibility, budget adherence, and timeline progress.
  • Perform detailed project audits including site readiness, installation quality (mounting, wiring, inverter setup, panel alignment), interconnection status, and final commissioning.
  • Identify and correct deficiencies early.
  • Collaborate with project coordinators, design/engineering, permitting, and sales teams to resolve bottlenecks and ensure smooth handoffs.
  • Drive key metrics: jobs per crew per week, first-time completion rate, service ticket resolution time, safety incident rate.
  • Implement and enforce standardized field processes, quality checklists, and safety protocols.
  • Analyze operational data to identify trends, inefficiencies, or training needs; recommend and execute continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Champion a zero-incident safety culture; lead weekly safety toolbox talks and ensure all team members complete required certifications.
  • Ensure full compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, utility interconnection rules, building codes, and company policies.
  • Serve as an escalation point for field-related customer concerns; partner with customer service to maintain high satisfaction and low callbacks.
  • Manage regional field labor, material usage budget.
  • Coordinate material procurement, inventory, and logistics to prevent delays.
  • Oversee fleet allocation, organization, maintenance, and safety.
  • Be the first one in the office every morning at 5:50 am, prepare and set field teams up for success.
  • Directly supervise and mentor regional field teams, including installation crews (roofing, electrical) and service technicians (warranty repairs, system troubleshooting, maintenance).
  • Recruit, train, onboard, and performance-manage field personnel and subcontractors to maintain a high-performing, safety-conscious workforce.
  • Review and approve payroll & time tracking of all direct report field employees
  • Track all Time off requests- Approve and relay to the PM team for effective scheduling.
