Regional Nursing Manager, Community Mental Health
About The Position
The Nursing Manager provides leadership and oversight to the organization’s medical and health service programs that are provided by Nurse Coordinators throughout the organization. This role provides direction, consultation, and support to Registered Nurses, Licensed Vocational Nurses, Nurse Practitioners, and Psychiatric Technicians. The position participates in the development and implementation of organization-wide policies and programs that contribute to its overall success. The Nursing Manager provides wellness and recovery services to chronically and severely mentally ill adults and those with tri-morbidities including physical health issues, substance use issues, and generational poverty that leads to homelessness or housing insecurity. Our programs operate with a wraparound model of care with a team approach to provide integrated services geared towards developing community and natural supports as these individuals transition out of the behavioral health care/homeless system to community supports. The team approach is essential, and input from all members of the team drives the care for the clients.
Requirements
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing and a current Registered Nurse (RN) license required.
- Experience as a registered nurse with at minimum four years of direct service in a psychiatric setting.
- Experience as an administrator of a community-based organization or equivalent required, 5 years preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
- Experience with computerized medical records, electronic prescribing and should possess a team driven attitude with a high level of organization, efficiency and collaboration.
- A vehicle, driver's license and proof of insurance is required. Driving throughout the region and Sacramento is required.

Responsibilities
- Manages Nurse Coordinators with matrixed supervision and support; provides the on-boarding, training, clinical supervision and oversite of Nurse Coordinators.
- Oversees the quality assurance program; ensures compliance with medical risk management and healthcare related regulations and policies.
- Develops and implements on-boarding and in-service training programs for clinical programs and services; develops policies and protocols to ensure quality client/patient services and care.
- Provides direct patient care including monitoring physical health and medication for participants, and provide ongoing direction of such care to the team.
- Provides ongoing consultation on participant treatment issues and quality of care to the treatment team and other clinical staff.
- Responds to program emergencies.
- Oversees charting required for all regulatory Utilization Review/Medi-Cal purposes.
- Complete documentation necessary for billing Medication Support Services for Medi-Cal.
- Supervise the monitoring of medication logs to ensure accuracy, conformity with medication policies and procedures.
- Represents the organization as the nursing head of services to funders, stakeholders, community and policy forums.
- Provides consultation and liaison when necessary and appropriate to the local professional community to coordinate treatment.
- Participates in the development and implementation of an ongoing in-service training and continuing education program for staff.
- Leads in the development and implementation of ongoing mental health, medical, and physical health practices for staff.
- Attends agency and/or mental health system meetings when requested and as needed.
- Performs other duties as required.
