About The Position

The Regional MIP Fleet Sales Specialist is a customer-facing sales, service, and technical role responsible for implementing, maintaining, and optimizing Wheeler Fleet Solutions’ Managed Inventory Program (MIP) within customer maintenance facilities. The role performs work that is predominantly intellectual in character and requires the consistent exercise of discretion and independent judgment in analyzing customer operations, forecasting demand, evaluating market conditions, identifying process improvements, troubleshooting technical issues, and managing the full sales cycle for assigned accounts. Incumbents independently manage client relationships, develop and execute account strategies, prepare proposals and presentation materials, document sales and closing processes, and make recommendations regarding renewals, upgrades, and new products to maximize share of wallet and expand business opportunities.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Engineering, Automotive Technology, or a related business or technical field, and a minimum of 1 year of relevant work experience in sales, fleet solutions, automotive parts, inventory management, or a comparable technical/customer-facing environment
  • Demonstrated ability to apply specialized post-secondary knowledge and relevant industry experience to forecasting, market analysis, technical problem-solving, documentation, and management of complex client situations
  • Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment with minimal supervision in planning travel, managing customer touchpoints, prioritizing work, and resolving account issues
  • Up to 70% travel to customer sites
  • Ability to organize and multi-task
  • Experience managing diverse and difficult customers and handling complex client situations professionally and independently
  • Strong communication (written and oral), presentation, and interpersonal skills with experience working on teams from multiple locations
  • Ability to understand and communicate technical automotive parts and service information
  • Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, and PowerPoint, ERP and CRM systems
  • Ability to work flexible schedule, some weekends required depending on the servicing of accounts
  • Must possess a valid U.S. driver’s license and a safe driving record

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Sales, Marketing, Accounting, Engineering, Automotive Technology, or a related field from an accredited institution
  • 3+ years of experience in the auto parts industry, fleet solutions, managed inventory programs, or a related technical sales environment
  • Experience conducting market research, analyzing trends, preparing proposals and presentations, and managing end-to-end sales processes independently

Responsibilities

  • Independently manage a full cycle of client relationships for assigned accounts, including prospecting, account development, implementation, service support, renewal recommendations, and issue resolution, with escalation of significant matters at the incumbent’s discretion.
  • Analyze customer operations, product usage, demand patterns, monthly sales results, and market share data to develop forecasts, stocking recommendations, and sales strategies that improve customer outcomes and increase market share.
  • Research and analyze market conditions, competitive activity, and emerging customer needs to identify new business opportunities, new markets, and opportunities to drive business outside traditional channels.
  • Assess customer needs and recommend renewals, upgrades, new products, and program changes based on technical product knowledge, usage analysis, and independent evaluation of customer requirements.
  • Identify delays, service gaps, and problem areas; suggest solutions; troubleshoot technical issues; and assure internal and external processes are responsive and effective in meeting client needs.
  • Create proposals, account reviews, and presentation materials that support business development, program optimization, and execution of sales strategies.
  • Execute inbound and outbound client communications and interface regularly with clients, Sales Representatives, and Account Managers to coordinate service, resolve complex situations, and advance sales opportunities.
  • Manage travel schedules, customer touchpoints, and field activity with minimal supervision, exercising judgment consistent with other exempt roles across Wheeler.
  • Conduct and manage inventory balances at customer locations, determine appropriate stocking levels, reduce excess and obsolete inventory, and place or coordinate stocking orders as needed.
  • Utilize available parts research, forecasting tools, and technical resources to solve customer problems, improve processes, and support effective implementation of the Managed Inventory Program.
  • Document sales activities, customer commitments, implementation steps, and closing processes accurately and completely, ensuring proper program administration and recordkeeping.
  • Aid in the development and execution of sales strategies by gathering competitive intelligence, evaluating account opportunities, and recommending actions to increase customer satisfaction and revenue growth.
