Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience last mile operations, transportation, linehaul, middle-mile, or network operations.
  • 3+ years in a regional or multi-site leadership role.
  • Proven experience managing vendor-based linehaul networks.
  • Strong understanding of hub-and-spoke logistics models.
  • Advanced analytical skills; comfort working with dashboards, KPIs, and operational data.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead through influence across functions.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in parcel, e-commerce, or high-volume distribution networks.
  • Background in network planning, capacity modeling, or fleet operations.
  • Lean / Continuous Improvement exposure (Kaizen, PDCA, root cause analysis).
  • Experience supporting peak season planning and execution.

Responsibilities

  • Own regional performance across On-Time Departures (OTD), On-Time Arrivals (OTA), Left on Dock (LOD), lane reliability, and service impact lanes.
  • Ensure adherence to standardized linehaul cut-off times and execution windows.
  • Act as the regional escalation point for service disruptions, capacity constraints, and execution failures.
  • Manage regional linehaul spend, balancing service reliability with cost efficiency.
  • Optimize planned vs. actual load fill %, empty miles, ad-hoc lane usage, and lane cancellation rates.
  • Partner with Network Planning to align linehaul plans to volume forecasts and seasonal demand shifts.
  • Identify and execute cost-reduction opportunities without degrading service.
  • Ensure consistent lane execution across hubs, sort centers, and branches.
  • Monitor outbound dwell time, trailer turns, and yard congestion.
  • Lead corrective actions for recurring execution gaps (late departures, missed connections, volume rollovers).
  • Support contingency planning for weather events, peak periods, and network disruptions.
  • Oversee linehaul carrier and vendor performance within the region.
  • Drive accountability through scorecards, audits, and regular performance reviews.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, load quality expectations, and contractual commitments.
  • Partner with Fleet Operations on tractor/trailer availability, utilization, and maintenance impacts.
  • Enforce regional standards for load quality (palletized vs. floor load, bagging lane integrity, false wall compliance), securement and damage prevention.
  • Partner with Safety and Quality teams to reduce on-road incidents and service failures.
  • Ensure corrective actions are documented, tracked, and sustained.
  • Lead and develop Regional Linehaul Managers, planners, or execution teams as applicable.
  • Serve as the primary linehaul partner to Hub & Branch Operations, Network Planning & IE, Safety, Finance, and Fleet teams.
  • Champion a culture of integrity, discipline, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Own regional linehaul dashboards and weekly business reviews.
  • Analyze trends and root causes related to service, cost, and execution gaps.
  • Drive standardized operating rhythms (daily execution reviews, weekly trend analysis, quarterly deep dives).
  • Lead improvement initiatives using Lean / CI principles.
