Requirements

  • Knowledge of business development, credit extension, credit administration, and portfolio management procedures.
  • General knowledge of production agriculture.

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, agriculture, or communications.
  • 7 years of experience in sales, agribusiness, credit analysis or crop insurance.
  • Or equivalent education, experience, and skillset sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job.

Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership and direction to the regional crop insurance teams (crop insurance sales and support staff), focusing on member service and crop insurance administration to achieve the business plan, including quality sales and service of membership.
  • Provides strategy and leadership for the overall member experience and crop insurance sales delivery while building a foundation for the team through performance coaching and effective goal setting.
  • Contributes to the creation and implementation of strategies to execute the business development and marketing plans.
  • Works with staff to develop and implement individual sales plans.
  • Uses internal and external data sources to identify growth opportunities in the regional marketplace and develop a team strategy to capitalize on those opportunities.
  • Approves and denies expense reports and leave requests.
  • Provides guidance in enhancing and managing complex crop insurance relationships, and provides additional expertise and resources as needed by the team.
  • Supports staff in managing crop insurance deadlines.
  • Promotes and guides staff on cross-selling of products and services to members.
  • Provides training to co-workers through information sharing, small group discussions, idea exchanges, job shadowing, and mentoring.
  • Applies acquired expertise to analyze and solve problems without clear precedent.
  • Models Association values, inspiring a shared vision through our shared purpose and holding their teams accountable for culture preservation and growth.
  • Recruits, selects, develops, motivates, empowers, and evaluates regional crop insurance team.
  • Assesses talent and determines the division of responsibilities, providing work guidance and direction.
  • Establishes performance standards and measures performance against standards.
  • Provides performance feedback, coaching and counseling employees as needed to improve performance, and recognizes employees in a timely manner.
  • Communicates business expectations and goals to and is responsible for teams’ results.
  • Assists team members in creating ongoing career development plans in order to fulfill opportunities throughout the association and plan for succession.
  • Establishes a positive work environment that promotes continuous learning, development, and recruitment/retention of highly effective staff.
  • Coordinates and collaborates with teammates, cross-functional leaders, and Association committees/teams to contribute to Association strategy or projects.
  • Establishes and maintains internal and external relationships while participating in the Association and industry organizations to gain knowledge, share information, and enhance the Association’s image.
  • Collaborates with other RMs and other field leadership to drive consistency, work share, and the overall success of the Association.
  • Works collaboratively with loan Regional Managers to identify and champion cross-selling opportunities.
  • Participates in various committees to provide insight and develop processes and procedures.
  • Supports and delivers Association initiatives to the marketplace.
  • Actively participates in high-level Association meetings to share insight in practices, processes, culture, etc. in an effort to make things work better.
  • Monitors and manages toward financial metrics set for the Regional Team.
  • Monitors crop insurance administration.
  • Monitors regional team performance by ensuring processes and procedures are followed.
  • Reviews reports and tracks progress of various performance measures providing change in direction, coaching, and training when necessary.
  • Supports improvement of processes and promotes division best practices to continually improve workflow.
  • Contributes to the development of processes and programs that promote and positively contribute to the member journey.
  • Creates and monitors the annual regional team budget.
  • Approves and denies budget requests, capital purchases, invoices, regional team public relations, and marketing activities.
  • Encourages the sharing of ideas or suggestions on how to better meet the member’s needs.
  • Speaks on the member’s behalf and ensures that their needs are being met when working with others.
  • Monitors and analyzes feedback to uncover opportunities to improve products, services, or processes.
  • Possesses and maintains technical expertise, business, industry, and legislative knowledge, and process development capabilities.
  • Seeks coaching and mentoring opportunities to help strengthen own skills.
  • Demonstrates openness to learning and puts new knowledge into practice.
  • Evaluates and selects training courses in leadership, communication, business expertise.
  • Attends all necessary training to maintain appropriate state licensing and crop insurance certifications.
  • Gains knowledge pertinent to the geographic region or territory.
  • Participates in customer appreciation events and activities to enhance relationships.
  • Develops and maintains a personal presence in the ag community through active involvement in professional groups and community activities.
  • Monitors the public relations budget and time allocation.
  • Identifies key contacts and resources to build relationships.
  • Stays abreast of knowledge pertinent to the geographical region.
  • Appropriately protects the confidentiality, security, and integrity of the Association’s systems and data and clients’ data.
