About The Position

Provides direct Subject Matter Expert (SME) support to assigned states/territories within one or two of the five operational regions. Serves as the primary point of contact for Joint Training System (JTS) integration, senior-leader workshops, Joint Training Plan (JTP) development, tool training, Mission Training Assessments (MTA)/Training Proficiency Assessments (TPA) support, Joint Exercise Life Cycle (JELC) participation, and Observer/Controller/Trainer (OC/T) duties. Ensures equitable, low-latency support aligned with regional Department of Military Operations (DOMOPS) threat profiles.

Requirements

  • Active SECRET clearance (or ability to obtain fully adjudicated SECRET prior to start).
  • Demonstrated experience with the four phases of the Joint Training System.
  • Experience instructing small-group workshops at the Senior Leadership level.
  • Joint Training Plan development experience.
  • Experience conducting training classes on DoD systems (DRRS, JTIMS, JLLIS).
  • Knowledge of Mission Training Assessments (MTA) and Training Proficiency Assessments (TPA).
  • Ability to perform OC/T duties and support JELC events.
  • U.S. citizenship.

Nice To Haves

  • Recently separated National Guard OCT or RMPO (or equivalent JFHQ-State / NGB joint training experience) - highest priority per NGB SME.
  • Deep DOMOPS experience (DSCA, state emergency management frameworks, regional threat profiles).
  • Prior service in NGB-J37, Joint Staff J7, CCMD J7, or JFHQ-State J37/Training billets.
  • Formal Joint Training System or Joint Exercise Life Cycle training.
  • DRRS/JTIMS formal user or instructor training.
  • Joint Training Orientation or equivalent.
  • Adult learning / facilitation credentials.
  • Master's degree desired for senior candidates.

Responsibilities

  • Assist JFHQs with all four JTS phases per CJCSI 3500 series.
  • Serve as OC/T on 12–18 exercises/year as requested.
  • Deliver training on DRRS, JTIMS, JLLIS, Joint Training Database of Record (classified & unclassified).
  • Prepare and conduct small-group senior-leadership workshops.
  • Support MTA and TPA development.
  • Prepare baseline/updated JTP processes.
  • Consolidate inputs for JTPs.
  • Draft JTPs.
  • Interface with subordinates for synchronization.
  • Support ~15 JELC events/year.
  • Attend JELC planning conferences (CDM/IPM/MPM/FPM).
  • Assist MSEL scripting.
  • Submit Trip Reports within 5 business days.
  • Create/present briefings.
  • Maintain assigned portion of JFHQ contact roster and metrics product.
  • Contribute regional inputs to monthly status report.
  • Execute authorized support visits.
  • Document Training Observations and share with training audience NLT 5 business days post-exercise.
