About The Position

In partnership with the regional director, this role oversees at least three region-wide initiatives and upholds all Young Life policies and procedures. The position involves spiritual development, leadership development, resource development, direct ministry, and ministry support. The role requires a commitment to Young Life's Christian mission and values, including proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ and helping adolescents grow in their faith. The job may involve working in extreme conditions, such as heat/cold, dirt, and long hours, with physical demands like hiking, horseback riding, and boating.

Requirements

  • Completion of Core Training — Phase One.
  • Proven spiritual leader.
  • Proven leadership in developing diverse staff and ministries.
  • Proven relational skills with both kids and adults.
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Must sign a Statement of Faith.
  • Must profess a belief in Jesus Christ as personal Savior and Lord.
  • Must subscribe to Young Life statements and policies, including the Statement of Faith.
  • Must be ready, willing, and able to fulfill ministry functions.
  • Must refrain from conduct and statements that detract from Young Life's biblical standards.
  • Must abide by all policies and practices of Young Life.
  • Must be able to handle extreme conditions of a camp assignment (heat/cold, dirt, long hours) and physical demands (hiking, horseback riding, boating, etc.).

Responsibilities

  • Oversee at least three region-wide initiatives in partnership with the regional director.
  • Uphold all Young Life policies and procedures.
  • Develop a yearly personal growth plan fostering a vibrant spiritual life, including solitude, retreat, reflection, prayer, and Bible study.
  • Seek and maintain relationships and disciplines within a church community and the Young Life community.
  • Lead teams and individuals in spiritual development.
  • Ensure all Young Life ministry in the region is conducted with dependence on prayer stemming from a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • Assist the regional director in casting vision for reaching all youth in the region.
  • Assist the regional director in developing diverse leadership and ministries.
  • Implement and support regional initiatives such as student staff, program, multi-cultural advance, and Forward.
  • Work with the regional director to recruit, interview, hire, and place staff within the region.
  • Assist the regional director in the development and implementation of regional trainings.
  • Conduct assignments or events as assigned by the regional director, including leadership weekends, recruiting days, staff development, and leader training.
  • Train committees and staff in areas within the region to ensure financial health.
  • Help develop and lead the region’s fundraising strategy, ensuring excellent communication to donors.
  • Be involved in raising funds to support the regional ministry vision as assigned by the RD.
  • Ensure local area TDS plans, including vision statement, strategy, and financial master plan, are implemented and reviewed.
  • Raise a portion of personal budget as agreed upon with the RD.
  • Work with Development staff to identify potential donors for mission-wide efforts.
  • Coordinate and conduct quality events that reflect Young Life’s capacity to impact youth.
  • Work with the area committee to develop community and church relationships as assigned by the RD.
  • Recruit, develop, encourage, and sustain a diverse regional committee.
  • Help lead the region in carrying out the summer camping vision.
  • Develop regional camping protocol, monitor, and report on progress.
  • Facilitate the work crew and summer staff process, and teach this process to staff.
  • Visit areas as needed or assigned, including routine and emergency crisis visits.
  • Assist the regional director in ensuring a regional plan is in place to grow Young Life in the region, including multi-cultural and focus ministries.
  • Maintain ministry contact with youth to the extent necessary for effectiveness in the role.
  • Provide networking opportunities for additional camping experiences using non-Young Life camps and discipleship experiences.
  • Help set the yearly regional strategic plan and initiatives, and review them regularly.
  • Maintain professionalism in office hours, dress, conduct, and time management, adhering to all Young Life policies and procedures.
  • Provide clear, prompt, appropriate, and professional communication.
  • Develop an appropriate system for reporting, expense reports, and the use of regional funds using Young Life accounting applications.
  • Accept both short-term and long-term assignments and projects.
