About The Position

The Regional Human Resources Business Partner is responsible for meeting the full spectrum of human resources needs for two manufacturing plants—Rainier, OR (approximately 105 employees) and Auburn, WA (approximately 50 employees). This position is based at the Rainier, OR plant and reports directly to the Divisional Human Resources Business Partner. The Regional Human Resources Business Partner provides onsite guidance and support to plant management and employees on a full range of human resources and safety matters. Key areas of accountability include talent acquisition, employee relations, safety, salary administration, and employee development. This is a plant-based role. Remote work is not available. The incumbent is required to report in person to the manufacturing facility each workday. The incumbent is expected to be on-site daily at the Rainier facility, with regular travel (one – two times per month) to the Auburn location (110 miles away).

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required; degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of human resources experience in a manufacturing setting, preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of HR laws and practices, including OSHA, FMLA, ADA, and other relevant regulations.
  • Ability to deliver effective training to diverse groups.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach employees and managers.
  • Strong employee relations focus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with ability to interact effectively at all levels of the organization.
  • Proven thought leadership and influencing skills; ability to build and maintain collaborative partnerships across the organization.
  • Exceptional organizational, time management, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple, competing priorities.
  • Willingness and ability to travel to satellite locations at least once per month

Responsibilities

  • Administer USG’s employee relations programs effectively and ensure collaborative and constructive relationships within the plant environments.
  • Maintain and facilitate open and effective communication channels.
  • Respond to and make recommendations regarding employee complaints, accidents, performance, and disciplinary matters.
  • Participate in agency charge responses, internal investigations, and coordinate plant engagement events.
  • Act as the primary safety resource and advisor for both plants, ensuring comprehensive application of all safety rules and regulations.
  • Oversee the effective implementation of the Accident Prevention Program.
  • Monitor safety trends, recommend areas for improvement, and ensure compliance with OSHA, MSHA, and all relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Actively participate in case management and initiatives to improve the working environment.
  • Monitor staffing levels and trends to anticipate and address staffing needs in a dynamic, plant-based environment.
  • Work collaboratively with Corporate Centers of Expertise to develop plant-specific sourcing strategies for all positions.
  • Manage and participate in hiring, interviewing, onboarding activities, internal promotions, and transfers.
  • Assist with college recruiting and workforce planning as needed.
  • Assess workforce training needs and deliver or coordinate appropriate training solutions.
  • Support and manage the performance management process to ensure ongoing employee development.
  • Facilitate talent and succession reviews (e.g., 9-Box), and support the execution of diversity and inclusion initiatives.
  • Make informed recommendations regarding plant wage, salary, and incentive decisions.
  • Administer the Operator Rate Program and promote awareness of USG benefit offerings.
  • Assist employees with benefit inquiries, including retirement, investment, and leave of absence programs.
  • Complete unemployment claims documentation and participate in appeals or hearings as required.
  • Resolve leave of absence and related issues in compliance with company policy and applicable laws.
