About The Position

The Regional Executive Director is responsible for all fiscal management, financial development and overall operation of multiple branches in accordance with policies, procedures and standards set by the YMCA of San Diego County. The Regional Executive Director will be responsible for multiple branches, but not limited to staff and volunteer management, supervision, fiscal management, program development, operations, branch promotion, quality assurance, Annual Campaign, and branch events as assigned. The Regional Executive Director will provide strategic and operational leadership across three East County branch locations: McGrath Family YMCA, Cameron Family YMCA, and John A. Davis Family YMCA.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
  • 10+ years’ experience in staff and volunteer management.
  • Professional demeanor and the ability to work well with the public, staff and volunteers.
  • Proven leadership skills in hiring, training, evaluating and motivating staff and volunteers.
  • Excellent writing, communication and public speaking skills.
  • Ability to develop strategic plans and community needs assessments.
  • Ability to adequately observe participation activities, enforce safety regulations and apply appropriate policies and procedures.
  • Ability to engage and motivate high level YMCA volunteers and key community leaders.
  • Ability to excel in initiative, enthusiasm, and understanding of and commitment to the goals of the YMCA.
  • Proven record of accomplishment of high skill level in staff and volunteer recruitment, training, supervision and evaluation.
  • Ability to motivate volunteer and staff to reach a common goal.
  • The ability to observe program activities, enforce safety standards, and apply appropriate policies and procedures.
  • The visual and auditory ability to respond to critical incidents and the physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency.
  • Must demonstrate exceptional supervisory, budgeting and forecasting skills to create and manage budgets.
  • Initiative, enthusiasm, and an understanding of and commitment to the mission and goals of the YMCA of San Diego County.
  • This position requires the ability to sit, stand and input data on a computer for extended periods of time.
  • Licensing, state law and our government funders require that staff within YMCA of San Diego County be fingerprinted, prior to reporting to work, and include subsequent arrest notifications.
  • CPR and First Aid certified with 30 days of hire and must be from one of the following certifying organizations: American Red Cross, American Heart Association, American Safety & Health Institute.

Responsibilities

  • Developing and leading the strategic direction and overall operations of multiple branch(s).
  • All fiscal management of the multiple branch(s) including development, maintaining and monitor the budget/forecast.
  • Developing and implementing the branch strategic plan at each branch with the overall branch-operating plan including key performance indicators for all departments.
  • Support the development of new and innovative programs that are consistent with branch strategic plan/branches operating plan and meet quality standards.
  • Developing the vision to expand services including developing a capital plan, case for support and execution of capital campaign at each branch.
  • Supervise and develop all branches employees and volunteer leadership.
  • Provide leadership and direction to all aspects of programs and facility management; ensuring high quality, impactful programs to meet the needs of the branch community.
  • Develop long term funding plan for repair and replacement of capital assets in collaboration with THQ at each branch.
  • Work in collaboration with corporate support positions to enhance the program quality and marketing for all departments of the branch operations.
  • Lead the Board of Advisors, implementing YUSA effective board governance, recruitment and committees.
  • Develop Board of Advisors committees to support the volunteer work needed in the strategic plan and branch-operating plan with charts of work and commissions.
  • Lead the branch Annual Campaign ensuring setting annual goals, volunteer recruitment strategies, board engagement and staff giving are achieved at each branch.
  • Effectively collaborate with the Business Center Admin Support team and Call Center team.
  • Develop relationships with key leaders in the community tied to branch strategic plan/operating plan.
  • Foster a positive branch culture encouraging innovation, collaboration, feedback and balance among all branch staff at each branch.
  • Responsible for all branch safety including but not limited to: IRL, Aquatics safety, Manager on Duty, Child abuse prevention, Hazmat, IIPP, active shooter and the branch safety counsel at each branch.
  • Follow all Association policies in regards to Human Resources.
  • Ensure all staff meet certification requirements for their position.
  • Other duties as assigned.
