About The Position

AWS Infrastructure Services is responsible for the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure, ensuring customers have continuous access to the innovation they rely on. This role is part of the AWS Environmental team, which is critical to enabling AWS's growth and ensuring regulatory compliance and high environmental performance in AWS's data center global operations. The team manages environmental requirements and risks from site selection through decommissioning. This position requires a skilled professional to manage complex, ambiguous audit initiatives across organizational boundaries, lead regional audits, influence stakeholders, and work independently. Strong strategic and tactical skills are essential, including balancing short and long-term needs, mitigating risks, and delivering simplified solutions. Excellent communication skills are crucial for presenting to senior leadership and writing strategic narratives. Cross-functional collaboration and consensus-building are key. Requirements

  • 3+ years of technical infrastructure management experience
  • Knowledge of best practices and emerging technologies, related to infrastructure (i.e. network, data center, hardware, software)
  • Experience in handling internal & external audits
  • Experience performing and/or participating in technical assessments in direct support of a major compliance effort (e.g. ISO 14001)

Nice To Haves

  • 3+ years of technical program management experience
  • Speak, write, and read fluently in Spanish

Responsibilities

  • Support the Environmental Audit program to evolve and meet changing organizational needs, stakeholder expectations, and environmental challenges, and securing necessary resources and support for continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with the wider environmental team, operations leaders, and top management to perform reviews and updates needed to ensure the audit program remains relevant and effective.
  • Support the ongoing identification and assessment of environmental risks identified through the audit program across AWS global operations.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans to address significant environmental risks and opportunities, setting ambitious yet achievable improvements.
  • Oversee the design and deployment of the Audit program to enhance environmental performance and ensure compliance with legal and other requirements.
  • Lead associated environmental audit training and awareness programs to embed audit skills throughout the organization.
  • Establish and manage a robust system for monitoring, measuring, and reporting performance of the Audit program.
  • Conduct regular internal audits of Environmental Management System and regulatory compliance and analyze data to identify trends, gaps, and areas for improvement.
  • Present performance reports and recommendations to top management.
  • Drive the ongoing enhancement of the Audit program leading management reviews, implementing corrective and preventative actions, and identifying innovative approaches to improve environmental performance.
