About The Position

Performance Contracting employs a variety of skilled trades for regional craft employment in the Great Lakes area. The specific trades include Abatement Worker, Carpenter, Fireproofer, Helper/Laborer/Trainee/Utility, Painter, Plasterer, Iron Worker, Millwright, Operator, Plumbing/Piping, Glazier, Boilermaker, Electrical Workers, Roofer, Sheet Metal Worker, and Teamster. Each role involves distinct responsibilities related to construction, installation, maintenance, and repair within their specialized field.

Requirements

  • Must be an active member of the union in good standing (in non-right to work states)
  • Ability to perform basic math
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Prolonged periods standing and working outside
  • Physically able to perform assigned tasks
  • Must be able to lift 40 pounds at a time

Responsibilities

  • Work or removal of materials that have potential to create hazardous exposure (asbestos, lead, mold).
  • Perform skilled carpentry work in construction, installation, maintenance, fabrication, and repair of wooden structures and fixtures.
  • Apply fireproofing materials in commercial construction sites.
  • Prepare work area by transporting tools and equipment, loading/unloading materials, and removing debris to ensure a clean and safe site.
  • Set up paint pots and utilize air-assisted and airless paint systems, mixing industrial coatings.
  • Mix and prepare plastering/EIFS materials, coordinate material staging, and install EIFS substrate, mesh, leveling coats, finishes, and multi-step plaster systems.
  • Construct, fabricate, and install structural steel and iron components.
  • Install, maintain, and repair industrial machinery and equipment.
  • Operate and maintain heavy equipment such as bulldozers, cranes, and excavators.
  • Install, repair, and maintain plumbing systems and piping networks.
  • Install, repair, and replace glass in structures.
  • Construct, assemble, and repair boilers, pressure vessels, and other large metal containers.
  • Install, repair, and maintain electrical systems, wiring, and equipment.
  • Install, repair, and maintain roofs on buildings and structures.
  • Cut, shape, and install sheet metal for ducts, roofs, and other components.
  • Operate and drive trucks or other heavy vehicles to transport goods and materials.
