About The Position

A&K Railroad Materials stands as a premier supplier of both new and used railroad track materials, with our headquarters situated in Salt Lake City, Utah. Our extensive network comprises distribution, manufacturing, and sales sites strategically positioned throughout the United States. Beyond track materials, A&K boasts affiliated railroad operations crucial to key infrastructure in Mississippi and Kansas, as well as car storage facilities spread across multiple states. As the Great Lakes Regional Sales Manager, you will be at the forefront of driving sales initiatives for railroad track materials in the Great Lakes area of the United States. Based at our Valparaiso, Indiana location, you will collaborate closely with product managers and report directly to the Executive Vice President of Sales. Your responsibilities will include overseeing the daily operations of the sales team in Valparaiso, managing both new and existing customer accounts, strategically positioning A&K to supply major high-speed rail infrastructure projects planned in the Great Lakes region of the U.S., and fostering strong partnerships both internally and externally.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in business administration, Sales, Marketing, or a related field.
Proven track record of success in sales, preferably within the railroad or construction industry.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to effectively manage and motivate a sales team.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with customers and internal stakeholders.
Willingness to travel as needed.
Knowledge and prior experience with ERP systems; Microsoft D365 preferred.
Prior experience using data analytics to drive market decisions and grow the territory.

Responsibilities

Lead the sales team to meet sales targets and customer expectations.
Utilize A&K’s ERP system and analytic tools to quantify opportunities and strategically architect solutions tailored to the unique requirements of railway projects.
Consistently deliver comprehensive weekly updates on sales activities, market trends, and competitive intelligence, empowering corporate decision-making and facilitating proactive strategy adjustments.
Ensure consistent and effective communication within the team and internal departments.
Manage the daily operations of the Valparaiso sales team, providing guidance and support as needed.
Collaborate with various departments to develop and implement sales strategies and initiatives.
Represent A&K at industry events, conferences, and trade shows to promote our products and services.
Provide leadership and guidance to the Great Lakes sales team, embracing A&K’s core values and promoting a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
