About The Position

Waste Pro is seeking an experienced Regional Compliance Manager to provide safety, regulatory compliance, environmental, and risk-management leadership across multiple operations within an assigned region. This is a highly visible, hands-on leadership position for a safety professional who understands the unique challenges of waste, recycling, environmental services, transportation, or similar heavy industrial environment. The Regional Compliance Manager partners closely with Regional Operations, Corporate Safety, Human Resources, and local management to strengthen our safety culture, maintain regulatory compliance, reduce risk, and drive continuous improvement. This is not a desk-only safety position. We are looking for a hands-on leader who is comfortable being in the field, working alongside operations, conducting inspections, reviewing incidents, identifying risk, and holding teams accountable to high safety and compliance standards. Waste Pro provides an essential, stable, year-round service, and safety is at the center of how we operate. We are looking for a leader who can work effectively in both the field and the office and who is comfortable holding operations accountable to high safety and compliance standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in safety, Occupational Health, Environmental Services, Occupational Safety/Engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • 8+ years of progressive, hands-on experience in occupational health and safety, loss control, risk management, and/or business continuity.
  • 5–7 years of relevant experience within the waste management/environmental services industry strongly preferred.
  • Safety certification or specialized training such as CSP, OSHA 10, OSHA 511, HAZWOPER, or similar credentials.
  • Strong working knowledge of federal and state safety regulations and standards, including OSHA, DOT, NIOSH, NFPA, and ANSI.
  • At least 5 years of experience maintaining detailed and accurate safety and compliance records.
  • At least 5 years of experience reading, interpreting, and applying federal, state, and local safety regulations.
  • Experience recognizing and evaluating operational hazards and recommending appropriate controls.
  • Experience investigating workplace incidents, injuries, vehicle accidents, and other safety-related events.
  • Strong project-management, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence, coach, motivate, and hold teams accountable for safety and compliance.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating across operations, Human Resources, Safety, Risk Management, and corporate leadership.
  • Strong Microsoft Office and Outlook skills.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Ability to read and interpret operational and safety-related reports, including vehicle condition reports.

Responsibilities

  • Promote a strong culture of safety, accountability, and environmental stewardship throughout the region.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable OSHA, DOT, EPA, NIOSH, workers' compensation, traffic safety, and other federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Manage DOT compliance, including Hours of Service (HOS), vehicle weight requirements, DOT accident logs, roadside citations, and post-accident documentation.
  • Manage facility inspection programs and regulatory safety assessments.
  • Oversee regional environmental compliance programs.
  • Manage OSHA training completion, documentation, and required safety records.
  • Prepare and maintain OSHA 300 logs and ensure required annual posting and corporate reporting.
  • Maintain required safety, DOT, environmental, and regulatory files and records.
  • Manage vendor and contractor compliance, including annual Certificates of Insurance (COIs).
  • Manage subrogation files and regional accountability tracking.
  • Conduct and oversee safety audits and inspections of facilities, operations, equipment, and processes.
  • Identify operational hazards and recommend practical corrective and preventive measures.
  • Assist with gathering and preparing documentation and evidence for hearings, lawsuits, claims, and insurance investigations.
  • Partner with Human Resources and Corporate Safety on employee safety, workers' compensation, claims management, risk management, loss prevention, medical management, business continuity, and Drug-Free Workplace compliance.
  • Partner with Corporate Safety leadership to establish annual safety and compliance goals, objectives, measurements, and action plans.
  • Complete quarterly regional safety reviews and present findings to the Regional Vice President and management team.
  • Analyze incidents, accident frequency, investigations, road observations, workers' compensation claims, risk/loss data, and other trends to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Develop and monitor mitigation strategies and corrective action plans.
  • Track required safety training, including Hazard Communication, driver safety, fall protection, machine guarding, hearing conservation, confined space, lockout/tagout, and personal protective equipment.
  • Develop and implement effective safety communications using multiple communication methods.
  • Stay current on changes to federal, state, and local safety and environmental regulations and industry best practices.
  • Participate in weekly accident review calls and semi-annual claims reviews.
  • Meet regularly with Regional Safety and operational leadership.
  • Represent Waste Pro in appropriate community and industry safety groups and programs.
  • Attend and participate in corporation sponsored training courses as assigned.
  • Keep up to date on current technology, as job appropriate, being used by Waste Pro USA.
  • Perform any additional job duties that may be assigned by the Supervisor.
