About The Position

The Regional Communicable Disease Coordinator is responsible for the planning, implementation, and evaluation of communicable disease control programs within the region. This role involves working closely with public health officials, healthcare providers, and community stakeholders to prevent and manage the spread of infectious diseases. The coordinator will also be involved in public health surveillance, outbreak investigation, and health promotion activities related to communicable diseases.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Nursing, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in public health, with a focus on communicable disease control.
  • Demonstrated experience in surveillance, outbreak investigation, and response.
  • Strong understanding of infectious diseases and their prevention and control.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in relevant software and data analysis tools.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in Public Health or a related field.
  • Experience working in a remote or northern community.
  • Knowledge of Inuit culture and health priorities.
  • Experience in program management and evaluation.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement regional communicable disease control strategies.
  • Conduct surveillance and monitor trends of communicable diseases.
  • Lead and coordinate outbreak investigations and response efforts.
  • Provide expertise and guidance on communicable disease prevention and control to healthcare providers and the public.
  • Develop and deliver health promotion and education programs related to communicable diseases.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective program delivery.
  • Manage program resources and budget.
  • Prepare reports and recommendations for public health authorities.
