About The Position

Ryder is hiring a Class A CDL truck driver in Dallas, Texas. The driver delivers clothing and retail goods to the Dallas area on a solo route and returns home daily. The position involves a 53-foot dry van trailer and touch freight. The schedule is Monday through Friday, starting at 6:00 PM, with paid training. Average weekly pay is $925, with pay calculated at $0.61 per solo mile and $25.50 per solo stop; the posting estimates 750 miles and 20 stops per week.

Drivers use well-maintained trucks that are 36 months old or newer, with 24/7 roadside maintenance and fueling available at more than 800 nationwide maintenance locations. Ryder describes the role as a company-driver position and provides support during the transition and throughout the driver's career.

Requirements

• Be at least 21 years old.
• Pass a Ryder drug test, background check, and motor vehicle check, including verification of drug and alcohol history from previous employers for the last three years.
• Pass a DOT physical and Ryder road test.
• Provide the appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position.
• Have Class A verifiable tractor-trailer or comparable-vehicle experience meeting one of these thresholds: 9 months within the past 3 years, 2 years within the last 5 years, or 5 years within the last 10 years.
• Be able to follow written and/or oral instructions.
• Be able to read, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and/or procedures.
• Be prepared for additional screening that may include employment and education verification, motor vehicle records check, road test, or customer badging or background requirements.

Responsibilities

• Comply with applicable federal and state laws, regulations, agency rules, standards, and guidelines.
• Detect, eliminate, or minimize safety hazards.
• Maintain accurate records and logs.
• Load or unload freight, or assist with loading or unloading when required by the customer.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
