About The Position

STGi is currently seeking a Staff Accountant/Regional Business Office Manager-Skilled Nursing to provide services at The William R. Courtney Texas State Veterans Home. The position can be onsite and/or Hybrid and/or Remote. The Staff Accountant/Regional Business Office Manager-Skilled Nursing provides leadership, oversight, and operational support to business office functions across multiple long-term care facilities within the State Veterans Home program. This role ensures accurate billing, revenue cycle integrity, regulatory compliance, and consistent implementation of company policies while supporting facility-based Business Office Managers and leadership teams.

Requirements

  • Staff Accountant/Regional Business Office Manager-Skilled Nursing experience
  • Experience in long-term care facilities
  • Knowledge of Veterans Administration (VA), Medicare, Medicaid, managed care, private pay, and ancillary services billing
  • Understanding of accounts receivable, cash collections, denials, and write-offs
  • Familiarity with Medicaid eligibility, pending tracking, and recertification processes
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and payer requirements for billing and reimbursement
  • Experience with audit readiness and responding to audits
  • Understanding of company policies, procedures, and internal controls
  • Experience with resident trust fund accounts reconciliation
  • Leadership, coaching, and performance management skills
  • Experience in onboarding and training staff
  • Ability to identify process gaps and implement best practices
  • Proficiency in reviewing and analyzing financial and operational reports (AR aging, cash, revenue cycle metrics)
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to work with Administrators, corporate leadership, MDS, clinical teams, and payers

Responsibilities

  • Oversee business office operations for multiple skilled nursing facilities.
  • Ensure accurate and timely billing for Veterans Administration (VA), Medicare, Medicaid, managed care, private pay, and ancillary services.
  • Monitor accounts receivable, cash collections, denials, and write-offs; implement action plans to meet financial goals.
  • Support Medicaid eligibility, pending tracking, and recertification processes.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and payer requirements related to billing and reimbursement.
  • Support audit readiness and respond to billing, financial, and regulatory audits.
  • Ensure adherence to company policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Ensure resident trust fund accounts are audited and reconciled per company policy and/or contract requirements.
  • Provide guidance, coaching, and performance management to facility Business Office Managers.
  • Support onboarding and training new business office staff.
  • Identify process gaps and implement best practices to improve efficiency and accuracy.
  • Review and analyze financial and operational reports, including AR aging, cash, and key revenue cycle metrics.
  • Provide regular updates and recommendations to facility and corporate leadership.
  • Partner with clinical and operational leaders to resolve reimbursement and documentation issues.
  • Work closely with Administrators, corporate leadership, MDS, clinical teams, and payers.
  • Serve as a regional resource for business office questions and issue resolution.
  • Communicate effectively with residents and families regarding billing and financial matters, when needed.
