About The Position

Burcham Hills, an upscale senior living retirement community located near Michigan State University, is seeking a full-time Nurse Manager (RN) for its 36-bed Long-Term Care unit. The role involves overseeing the unit, ensuring high-quality resident care, managing staff, and maintaining compliance. The community emphasizes exceptional hospitality and a positive work environment, offering support from a dedicated team including an Admissions Nurse, Scheduler, Nurse Insurance Case Manager, and Social Workers. They are also a preferred provider with local hospitals.

Requirements

  • Valid RN license in Michigan
  • At least 1 year of clinical experience in acute or long-term care
  • Expertise in geriatric/rehabilitation, restorative nursing, and wound care.
  • CPR certification required.
  • Ability to work 8-hour shifts, flexible hours, and participate in on-call rotations.
  • Basic computer skills
  • Strong communication abilities
  • Must demonstrate patience, respect, and courtesy in interactions with residents, families, and visitors.
  • Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English.

Nice To Haves

  • 1 year of management or supervisory experience in healthcare or long-term care.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the 36-bed Long-Term Care unit
  • Evaluate and adjust nursing care to meet goals, update care plans, and assess residents’ conditions or placements.
  • Monitor medication, supply, and equipment inventory.
  • Conduct routine and corrective audits as directed.
  • Oversee wound care with the Skin and Wound Program and Wound Nurse, completing documentation in their absence.
  • Manage investigations of incidents/accidents in PCC/Risk Management, ensuring root-cause analysis and care plan updates.
  • Participate in surveys and investigations made by authorized government agencies, and consultants as appropriate.
  • Supervises, directs and provides mentorship to nursing personnel on all shifts.
  • Participates in staffing, scheduling, counseling, orientation, disciplinary action and evaluation of nursing staff.
