About The Position

Axsome Therapeutics is a biopharmaceutical company focused on developing treatments for central nervous system (CNS) conditions. They are seeking a Regional Business Director (RBD) to lead commercial activities for an assigned geography. The RBD will be responsible for building a team of Account Managers, executing marketing strategies, and promoting SYMBRAVO, an acute migraine medication. This role involves leading a unique salesforce that utilizes a sophisticated digital infrastructure. The RBD will have full ownership of driving sales within their region, acting as a product champion, and understanding the local market landscape, key stakeholders, and future trends. This is a cross-functional, field-based leadership role focused on the launch of a new migraine medication, requiring travel to develop internal and external relationships.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • 5 years or more of field leadership experience and/or payer account management and/or demonstrated sales success with increasing responsibility and organizational leadership.
  • Previous pharmaceutical, biotech, or medical marketing/sales experience preferred.
  • At least three to five years spent in a position with demonstrated 1st line leadership groups.
  • Proven performance history in leading others to success through coaching influence.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering outstanding results and developing others to their potential.
  • Proven track record in attracting and retaining top talent.
  • Current or recent Migraine disease experience strongly preferred.
  • Successful launch experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience strategizing within teams using differential resources to reach business goals.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently under aggressive timelines in a dynamic environment.
  • Must live within the territory’s geography.
  • Comfortable with uncertainty and high expectations.
  • Strong digital marketing aptitude.
  • Strong interpersonal and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

  • Supervising region operations, including driving results, hiring, coaching, account manager development, performance management, and assigning key accounts.
  • Developing and implementing strategic plans for the region, balancing live/virtual interactions and prioritizing team efforts.
  • Planning, organizing, and driving performance to achieve regional business potential through coaching and influencing direct reports.
  • Establishing and maintaining effective communication among region members and cross-channel stakeholders.
  • Maintaining technical expertise to accurately answer product, marketing, policy, and business-related questions.
  • Working with direct reports to understand and consistently execute established expectations.
  • Coaching Sales Account Managers (SAMs) to improve selling skills, account management, product knowledge, and capabilities.
  • Leading by example through coaching direct reports in both live and virtual engagements.
  • Planning and conducting plan of action and other meetings with region and Market Access teams.
  • Developing and implementing the region business plan, managing the region budget, and overseeing the P&L at the region level.
  • Ensuring full compliance with all relevant laws, policies, and processes for self and team.
  • Overnight travel as needed.
