About The Position

The Real Estate and Workplace Services (REWS) team creates environments and experiences that enable culture, innovation, well-being, and productivity. Its mission is to build and maintain facilities and infrastructure that help Google grow. The Tech Infrastructure group supports reliable, efficient, and safe spaces, from smart structures and central utility plants to sustainable campus setups. The Regional Building Technologies and OT Operations Specialist serves as the subject-matter expert for IoT, mechanical controls, and network protection throughout a territory. The role bridges physical plant engineering with digital architecture and works with outsourced service providers and specialist vendors to oversee the baseline health, availability, and cybersecurity posture of workplace technologies. The specialist reviews Sequences of Operations with technicians, audits architectures against threat baselines, and validates Methods of Procedure for live maintenance. The role leads regional operational architecture and lifecycle performance for building management systems, lighting, and connected building equipment; supports reliability and uptime across regional facilities; owns regional OT cyber hygiene and remediation; and drives responses to building automation failures, communications outages, and OT security incidents. It also advances predictive maintenance, Fault Detection and Diagnostics, and Security-by-Design standards for operations, procurement, and capital projects.

  • Experience with Fault Detection and Diagnostics (FDD), energy optimization (ASHRAE Guideline 36), and smart building analytics.
  • Practical working knowledge of commercial MEP equipment (HVAC, central plants, EPMS) and standard facility operating procedures (MOPs/SOPs/EOPs).
  • Track record of acting as the technical escalation point for critical facility outages and vendor Service-level agreement (SLA) enforcement.
  • Excellent cross-functional, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead regional operational architecture and lifecycle performance for Building Management Systems (BMS), lighting, and connected building equipment.
  • Partner with onsite Facilities Managers and Integrated Facilities Management (IFM) operating engineers to maintain control system reliability and uptime across regional facilities.
  • Own regional OT cyber hygiene, vulnerability and patch management, and mitigations within defined SLOs, serving as the technical risk authority for building and connected systems.
  • Drive rapid technical and corrective actions for building automation failures, controls communication outages, and OT security incidents within defined SLOs.
  • Manage advanced predictive maintenance, Fault Detection and Diagnostics (FDD), and Security-by-Design standards for operations, new equipment procurement, and capital projects.
