About The Position

As the Regional Assistant Chief Engineer – North America, you will support the Regional Director of Engineering in providing technical leadership and operational oversight across Millennium Hotels & Resorts' North American portfolio. This role serves as a key resource to hotel Chief Engineers, General Managers, and regional leadership, helping ensure that our hotels maintain safe, efficient, reliable, and well-maintained facilities while meeting Millennium standards and applicable regulatory requirements. You will contribute to regional engineering strategy, asset management, preventive maintenance, capital planning, energy management, sustainability initiatives, and technical problem-solving. This is an influential role requiring strong technical expertise, business acumen, communication skills, and the ability to drive results across multiple hotels and teams. The ideal candidate is a hands-on engineering leader who combines strong technical knowledge with a strategic mindset and a passion for developing people, protecting hotel assets, improving operational performance, and delivering sustainable results. You will help strengthen engineering performance across the region by providing technical guidance, developing engineering talent, identifying opportunities for improvement, and supporting consistent standards across the portfolio. You will serve as a trusted technical resource and escalation point for complex engineering, facilities, life-safety, compliance, and building systems matters while partnering closely with hotel and corporate leadership. Your leadership will help ensure our hotels are safe, efficient, operationally sound, and positioned for long-term success.

Requirements

  • Extensive progressive experience in hotel engineering, facilities management, building operations, or a related field.
  • Significant experience supporting multiple hotels, a regional portfolio, or a corporate engineering function preferred.
  • Strong technical knowledge of hotel building systems, including: HVAC and mechanical systems, Electrical systems, Plumbing, Fire and life-safety systems, Building automation and controls, Vertical transportation systems, Building infrastructure and related hotel systems.
  • Demonstrated experience with capital projects, maintenance programs, budgets, and asset management.
  • Working knowledge of applicable North American building, safety, fire, environmental, and energy codes and regulations.
  • Experience with CMMS/work-order systems and energy-management platforms.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and lead without direct authority.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and/or Google Workspace.
  • Ability and willingness to travel extensively across the North American portfolio, typically 40–60%.
  • Hospitality or Millennium Hotels & Resorts experience is a plus.

  • Professional certifications such as CEM, LEED AP, CFM, or equivalent are preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Regional Director of Engineering in providing technical leadership and oversight to Chief Engineers and engineering teams across the North American portfolio.
  • Serve as a technical resource, advisor, and escalation point for complex engineering and facilities issues.
  • Promote consistency in engineering practices, preventive maintenance, asset management, and operational standards across hotels.
  • Support regional engineering initiatives and contribute to the development and implementation of best practices.
  • Provide coverage and leadership support for the Regional Director of Engineering as needed.
  • Monitor the condition, reliability, and performance of hotel buildings, equipment, and critical infrastructure.
  • Conduct and participate in property visits, engineering audits, technical assessments, and facility condition reviews.
  • Identify operational risks, deferred maintenance, and opportunities to improve asset performance.
  • Review property engineering performance and develop recommendations and corrective action plans.
  • Support hotel engineering leaders in establishing effective preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
  • Promote consistent use of CMMS, work-order management, maintenance tracking, and reporting systems.
  • Assist with the development, review, prioritization, and execution of annual capital expenditure plans.
  • Support major renovations, equipment replacements, building-system upgrades, and other capital projects.
  • Partner with Operations, Design & Construction, Procurement, and hotel leadership to support effective project planning and execution.
  • Review project scopes, technical specifications, budgets, and timelines.
  • Help ensure capital investments are aligned with operational priorities, asset needs, guest experience, and long-term value.
  • Support engineering leaders in managing departmental budgets and controlling maintenance and utility costs.
  • Champion energy management, sustainability, and utility-cost reduction initiatives across the portfolio.
  • Analyze energy and utility consumption and identify opportunities for improved efficiency.
  • Support implementation of sustainability programs and engineering best practices aligned with Millennium's corporate goals.
  • Identify opportunities to leverage technology, automation, and innovative engineering solutions to improve efficiency and reduce operating costs.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and solutions-oriented problem solving.
  • Monitor compliance with company standards, applicable building codes, fire and life-safety requirements, environmental regulations, and other applicable laws and regulations.
  • Support hotel engineering teams in maintaining safe operating environments for guests and employees.
  • Assist with technical reviews related to fire/life-safety systems, emergency systems, building infrastructure, and critical equipment.
  • Identify potential operational and safety risks and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
  • Promote a strong culture of safety, accountability, documentation, and regulatory compliance.
  • Support the recruitment, onboarding, training, coaching, and development of Chief Engineers and key engineering personnel.
  • Partner with hotel leadership to strengthen engineering talent and succession planning.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineering leaders.
  • Share knowledge, best practices, and innovative solutions across the regional engineering community.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, continuous learning, and professional growth.
  • Build strong working relationships with General Managers, hotel leadership, ownership representatives, corporate departments, vendors, contractors, and service providers.
  • Partner with regional Operations, Design & Construction, Procurement, Finance, and other corporate functions on engineering-related initiatives.
  • Communicate technical information and recommendations effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Represent the Engineering function with professionalism and a solutions-oriented approach.
