About The Position

Oversee accurate records of aggregate inventory items setup and transactions, including receipts, consumption and production entries and inventory adjustments. Ensure accuracy and timeliness of transaction completion. Oversee financial transactions and frequent counts of cement, asphalt oil, as well as fuel and items purchased for resale. Perform regular reconciliations of physical inventory counts with system records and resolve discrepancies. Analyze inventory costs and variances, provide insights to support financial decision-making. Update the value of inventory to reflect changes in cost, market conditions or other factors. Oversee efforts to comply with standard processes related to inventory accounting a reporting. Oversee financial controls and policies to safeguard the organization’s inventory assets. Partner with Directors of Aggregates and Ready Mix for any initiatives, research, or other projects as required. Work closely with all procurement, production and sales teams to ensure accurate and efficient inventory management. Oversee the annual review of inventory for obsolescence. Perform the regular review of depletion rates, impairments and reserve disclosure reporting. Oversee the monthly close process related to inventory including depletion, reclamation, and any other related entries. Assist with internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations related to inventory. Travel will be required, including overnight stays. Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and regulations.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail in managing inventory records and processes.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with various departments and stakeholders.
  • Solid organizational skills.
  • Manage team with members officed throughout the region.
  • Proficient in complex accounting software setups including subledgers, GL mapping, and POS transaction interfacing.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in inventory or general accounting.

Nice To Haves

  • CPA or equivalent certification.
  • Experience working in a construction or manufacturing related industry.
