About The Position

The Inventory Controller serves as the site-level inventory planning and material coordination lead for the Anacortes Refinery. This role is responsible for managing maintenance, turnaround, project, and operational demand into inventory and supply actions that support safe, reliable, and competitive refinery operations. The Inventory Controller acts as the primary interface between Maintenance, Operations, and Supply Chain teams to ensure material availability, inventory, and replenishment decisions are aligned with equipment criticality, lead time risk, supplier capability, and site execution priorities. The successful individual will be located in Anacortes, WA and report to the Supply Chain Director.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Six (6) or more years of Supply Chain or business relevant experience.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews and replenishes inventory, and reviews and converts Turnaround and Project demand requirements, at one refinery.
  • Converts planned orders to purchase requisitions for sourcing and procurement.
  • Schedules transfers from same plant to fulfill requirements.
  • Schedules transfers from other plants to fulfill requirements.
  • Converts repairable items for in-house repair or third-party repair.
  • Performs robust and hands-on inventory reviews to include stockouts and items at risk of stockouts, inventory optimization, ABC classifications, forecasting demand based on planned activities or seasonality, supplier stocking programs such as VMI and Consignment opportunities, unfulfilled or canceled work order reservations and affected inventories, surplus stock, and obsolete stock.
  • Participates, identifies, and leads inventory management continuous improvement projects aimed at optimizing inventory.
  • Provides support for Company audits and Supply Chain compliance control reviews as needed.
  • Establishes and maintains close professional relationships with key stakeholders: Cultivates deep and up to date understanding of specific stakeholder needs, and serves as single point of contact to help CSAs interpret those needs.
  • Cultivates deep and up to date understanding of CSA activities, and serves as single point of contact to help stakeholders maintain awareness of the status of those activities.
  • Generally serves as liaison between warehouse, CSA teams, and stakeholders.
  • Uses knowledge of stakeholder needs and CSA capabilities to manage and prioritize exception handling tasks for the CSA team.
  • Performs CSA duties for assigned categories, including but not limited to sourcing strategy development and implementation, RFP/RFQ planning and execution, supplier negotiations, supplier relationship management, quantitative analysis, and PO creation and management.
  • Supports Warehouse Manager in the conduct of their duties, including but not limited to supervising Warehouse Supervisors and/or Warehouse Techs, overseeing daily warehouse operations (GRs, GIs, picks, putaways, cycle counts, QA/QC, heavy equipment use, etc.), material management strategy development and execution, compliance with legal or company requirements, budget development and compliance, and backfilling the Warehouse Manager during absences.
