About The Position

Refugees International (RI), a leading humanitarian advocacy organization dedicated to promoting lifesaving assistance, protection, and solutions for refugees and displaced people, seeks an Program Coordinator to support its Refugee Leadership and Partnerships program. The program seeks a highly organized and mission-driven Program Coordinator to play a central role in overseeing RI’s Refugee Fellows Program, supporting refugee-led global convenings, advancing localization and power-shifting initiatives, and ensuring effective coordination across partners, donors, and internal teams. This position is ideal for someone who is passionate about refugee leadership, skilled at managing complex projects, and committed to advancing meaningful participation and locally led solutions in humanitarian and policy spaces.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in International Relations, Public Policy, Public administration, or a similar degree
  • At least 3 years of experience working in the non profit sector
  • A very high level of organization, attention to detail, and follow-through on responsibilities
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging within the organization and with the people for whom RI advocates
  • Working knowledge of the Google Workspace environment including sheets
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States

Responsibilities

  • Support the overall design, implementation, and strategic direction of Refugees International’s Refugee Fellows Program, supporting multiple cohorts across regions.
  • Lead the full fellowship recruitment cycle with the support of the Refugee Leadership and Partnership Director, including managing the application platform, reviewing and shortlisting of applications, and coordinating advocate reviews; Manage the interview process, including scheduling, and panel coordination; Support fellows’ onboarding and orientation, ensuring a strong foundation for engagement with RI and partners.
  • Identify, contract, and manage trainers and facilitators; oversee training logistics and delivery; Lead follow-up processes, including training evaluations, feedback surveys, and continuous curriculum improvement; Ensure timely processing of trainer contracts and payments.
  • Track progress against agreed milestones and deliverables, providing ongoing guidance and course correction where needed.
  • Engage in and contribute to fellows’ national-level advocacy and organizational work, as relevant; Support the planning and implementation of an annual in-person retreat for fellows, including agenda design, facilitation, and logistics.
  • Support fellows’ travel during the fellowship, including booking flights and accommodation and ensuring compliance with RI travel and per diem policies; Coordinate closely with RI operations and finance teams to ensure smooth implementation.
  • Support the convening of RI partners and donors meeting, including note-tracking, and follow-up emails; Maintain momentum across partners by tracking decisions and ensure implementation of agreed actions.
  • Support the planning and delivery of convenings and events, from concept to execution; Support setting agendas and shape thematic priorities in close consultation with refugee leaders and partners; Support all logistical aspects of planned events, including venues, contractors, service providers, interpretation, and participant experience.
  • Support the power-shifting and localization portfolio across the organization; Support relationships building and followup with local organizations and R-Space partners.
  • Track financial spending across the refugee leadership and power-shifting portfolio. Work closely with the administration and finance teams to monitor expenditures against approved budgets.
