About The Position

The Refrigeration Technician will perform routine maintenance on various industrial systems including ammonia compressors, air compressors, steam boilers, hot water systems, HVAC equipment, and more. This role requires the ability to read schematics and P&ID drawings, understand various operating procedures, and perform basic fabrications. The technician will be responsible for safely isolating and pumping down system sections, performing line-opening procedures, and receiving or transferring ammonia. On-the-job training and schooling will be provided for candidates with the right qualifications, particularly in ammonia refrigeration. The team associate will also be required to perform basic mechanical troubleshooting and repairs.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • At least 2 years of experience in industrial refrigeration.
  • 1 year of experience in electronics and PLC controls.
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude.
  • Experience in ammonia or freon refrigeration, boiler operations, and/or compressed air.
  • Ability to work various shifts or work overtime as needed.
  • Candidate must have their own tools.

Nice To Haves

  • Formal Training in Ammonia Refrigeration is preferred.
  • CFC/EPA Certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance on ammonia compressors, air compressors, ammonia liquid pumps, ammonia system controls, refrigeration system condensers, air system drying equipment, and air system controls.
  • Perform routine maintenance on Miura Steam Boilers and associated equipment, Hot Water Systems, HVAC Equipment, Air Compressors, Auger Chillers, Water Pumps, along with all support and building services.
  • Read schematics, as-built drawings, and P&ID Drawings.
  • Read and understand instructions for a broad range of mechanical, electronic, electrical, manual, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Perform basic fabrications as needed.
  • Safely isolate and pump down any section of all systems, and perform line-opening procedures.
  • Receive or transfer ammonia in all plant systems.
  • Perform basic mechanical troubleshooting, repairs, and minor fabrications as needed.
