About The Position

This position is responsible for troubleshooting, maintaining and repairing plant refrigeration systems and responsible areas while maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to Tyson policies and procedures. The role requires performing mechanical refrigeration and electrical duties, making adjustments and repairs, and working safely with ammonia and other equipment. A strong understanding of industrial ammonia refrigeration, control valves, and delicate devices is necessary. The technician will also utilize basic shop math, precision measuring devices, blueprints, hand and power tools, and understand different types of pumps and their applications. Additionally, knowledge of basic A/C and D/C electrical theory, system wiring, and installation methods is required. Minor welding and fabrication ability is a plus, as is an understanding of compressed air systems. The ability to tolerate extreme cold, hot, dry, and wet environments is also essential.

Requirements

  • Must be able to pass and maintain a PFT (pulmonary function test).
  • Must be a member of the HAZMAT team.
  • Must be able to use and train in a SCBA (self-contained breathing apparatus).
  • Must remain clean shaven at all times.
  • 6 MONTHS industrial maintenance experience.
  • Ability to work well and communicate with others in a professional manner.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, stretch, turn, climb, push, pull, carry 50 + pounds as needed.
  • Willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.

  • Industrial refrigeration experience a plus.
