About The Position

Gateway Mechanical is hiring Journeyperson and 3rd/4th Year Apprentice Refrigeration Technicians who thrive under pressure and take pride in solving problems. The company is especially interested in technicians with supermarket refrigeration experience, including those who understand rack systems, store renovations, retrofits, commissioning, and working in live retail environments where downtime is not an option. This role involves both service calls and project work, requiring technicians to troubleshoot critical breakdowns and execute complex installations. The ideal candidate takes ownership, thinks independently, and refuses to cut corners.

Requirements

• Journeyperson Refrigeration Certification or Registered Apprentice
• Minimum 3+ years of refrigeration experience or strong apprentice progression
• Supermarket refrigeration project experience required
• Experience with rack systems, store remodels, retrofits, and commissioning
• Ability to participate in an on-call rotation
• Valid Class 5 Driver's License
• Don't wait around for direction

Responsibilities

• Move between service calls and project work
• Troubleshoot refrigeration systems under pressure
• Work on supermarket refrigeration projects, retrofits, and store renovations
• Install systems that need to be right the first time
• Commission and startup equipment with confidence
• Walk into challenging situations and find solutions
• Diagnose problems quickly and accurately
• Repair and maintain commercial and industrial HVACR systems
• Install and retrofit refrigeration equipment
• Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
• Support supermarket refrigeration projects from install through commissioning
• Complete digital documentation accurately and professionally
• Build customer confidence through technical expertise and reliability
