About The Position

This role involves independently performing advanced refrigeration maintenance and repair throughout the warehouse to support operational objectives. Responsibilities include setting up and monitoring refrigeration equipment, troubleshooting systems, replacing components, and ensuring compliance with safety standards. The technician will also oversee contractors, participate in operational excellence initiatives, and assist in training less experienced technicians.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of industrial refrigeration maintenance experience including ammonia refrigeration.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  • Completion of assigned industrial refrigeration and mechanical-electrical courses required.
  • HAZMAT training and certification required.
  • Experience troubleshooting and repairing control systems such as ALTA and Allen Bradley and maintaining records within a Computerized Maintenance Management System.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in a cold storage environment.
  • RETA CIRO or CARO certifications.
  • Experience using Oracle Computerized Maintenance Management System.
  • Demonstrated experience performing root cause analysis and component-level diagnostics on industrial refrigeration systems.
  • Experience providing formal or informal technical training and mentorship to junior refrigeration technicians.

Responsibilities

  • Define and set up operational settings and parameters for all refrigeration equipment.
  • Monitor system performance and take actions to ensure optimal operation.
  • Troubleshoot refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, and control systems to identify root causes and recommend corrective actions.
  • Replace components within refrigeration systems following safe lockout/tagout procedures and safety program requirements.
  • Perform routine and complex maintenance and repairs on various warehouse equipment in accordance with OSHA standards.
  • Oversee and inspect work of internal and external technicians for compliance and quality control and assist in training and development of less experienced technicians.
  • Maintain accurate preventive and predictive maintenance records and participate in operational excellence initiatives.
  • Other essential duties may be applicable and assigned as necessary.
