About The Position

This role involves fulfilling all duties as necessary for a Refrigeration Operator, abiding by all requirements and Company policies and procedures such as GMPs, Food Safety, PSM/RMP, Lockout Tagout, and Confined Space. The technician will check ammonia valves, perform complex repairs and overhauls on system components and associated equipment, and understand complex electrical schematics and PLC control functions. Responsibilities include charging, evacuation, and pressure testing of system vessels and components, installations and replacements of refrigeration system components, analyzing system data to improve maintenance, and assisting in the supervision of contractor activity. The role also requires participation in chemical release response, assisting with other utility systems, and identifying and reporting suspicious or abnormal situations. Requirements

  • Knows machines & tools, including their designs, uses, repair, & maintenance.
  • Possesses the skills needed to repair, maintain, & troubleshoot machinery.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Able to use critical thinking to identify strengths & weaknesses of alternative solutions or approaches to problems.
  • Able to wear an Air Purifying Respirator and a Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus.
  • Medical evaluation, physical examination & pulmonary testing for Hazmat purposes (required for pre-employment & annually thereafter).

Nice To Haves

  • 2 years of verifiable Ammonia Refrigeration experience preferred.
  • Experience with operation & maintaining ammonia refrigeration systems in excess of 10,000 pounds of ammonia.
  • RETA based Industrial Ammonia Operator training program preferred.
  • Hazmat training preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Check ammonia valves of the manufacturing plant, outside, condenser, & exhaust fans.
  • Execute complex repairs & major overhauls to system components & associated equipment.
  • Understand complex electrical schematics, PLC control functions, & Electrical Distributions systems & troubleshoot root causes & determine proper repairs.
  • Perform charging, evacuation, & pressure testing of system vessels & components during projects & Line Equipment procedures.
  • Perform installations & replacements of refrigeration system components & associated equipment.
  • Analyze system data & trending values to determine the need for increased maintenance frequencies or improved maintenance procedures & safe work practices.
  • Assist department management in the supervision & documentation of contractor activity & performance on or around the process equipment.
  • Participate as a trained team member for chemical releases or spills as required.
  • Assist in the operation, maintenance, & continuous improvement of other utility systems.
  • Identify & report any suspicious or abnormal situation to the manager.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
