About The Position

The Refrigeration Tech is responsible for monitoring building equipment for safety purposes and repair. This includes troubleshooting refrigeration, HVAC, mechanical, and electrical problems, performing repairs, documenting solutions, and making recommendations for further action. The role requires a willingness to work overtime, including weekends and holidays when on call, and involves daily mechanical checks on various building systems. The technician will maintain and repair refrigeration, HVAC, EMS, electrical, and mechanical systems, perform preventative maintenance, and manage communications for service calls efficiently. Maintaining licenses, permits, and certifications to meet state and local codes is also a key responsibility. The role involves operating and fine-tuning EMS building controls and automation systems, as well as performing administrative tasks like ordering materials and data entry.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of three years recent experience performing refrigeration service, or maintenance work in building related trades.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Able to perform duties with a high degree of accuracy and care to avoid mechanical breakdowns.
  • Able to respond to direct and radio requests as soon as possible.
  • Able to maintain proper neat uniform appearance of Company provided work shirt and employee provided clean blue jeans without holes or tears.
  • Wear required Personal Protective Equipment as required including arc flash and safety glasses.
  • Must be computer literate.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Must possess an EPA Section608 Universal Certification.
  • Ability to read and comprehend manuals, prints, and work orders.
  • Knowledge of tools and equipment maintenance.
  • General record keeping skills.
  • Customer service orientation and sensitivity to diverse needs of coworkers, employees, and other persons contacted in the daily course of work.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to perform manual labor.
  • Stooping, bending, twisting, lifting, and reaching is required in completion of job duties.

Responsibilities

  • Monitoring building equipment for safety purposes and repair.
  • Troubleshooting refrigeration, HVAC, mechanical, and electrical problems.
  • Performing repairs on refrigeration, HVAC, EMS, electrical, and mechanical systems.
  • Documenting solutions and making recommendations for further action.
  • Making daily mechanical checks on equipment in the Mechanical Room, Roof, HVAC, EMS systems, refrigerated cases, and walk-ins.
  • Performing preventative maintenance tasks, leak checks, and inspections.
  • Recording required information and maintaining jurisdictionally applicable records, EPA forms, and required documentation.
  • Monitoring preventive maintenance work done by outside contractors and notifying the Area Refrigeration Manager of issues.
  • Managing communications for service calls in a timely manner.
  • Maintaining current license, inspection, permit, and certificate requirements to meet all state and local codes.
  • Operating EMS building controls and automation systems, including fine-tuning operating parameters and adjusting set points and schedules.
  • Fully understanding and modifying building control sequences.
  • Performing administrative tasks such as ordering material, writing purchase orders, and data entry for work reports and refrigerant leak reports.
  • Performing all duties in a timely, efficient, and professional manner.
  • Maintaining a neat, clean, and safe work area.
