About The Position

This role is for a full-time Refrigeration Tech in Middletown, PA, working a day shift with an average 45-50 hour workweek, Monday through Friday, 6 am to 4 pm, with occasional Saturday Production Days and weekend maintenance projects. Overtime is paid after 40 hours. The position involves performing repairs, preventative maintenance, and troubleshooting of plant refrigeration systems (ammonia) and equipment, as well as boiler, other utilities, and waste water treatment plant maintenance. The technician will repair or replace defective parts, respond to breakdowns, and suggest improvements. They will also manage purchase orders, understand work flow, communicate effectively with production teams and management, complete paperwork, and utilize in-house asset management software. Adherence to OSHA standards, environmental regulations, safety procedures, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and good housekeeping is required. Additional duties may be assigned.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Ability to work and communicate effectively in a fast-paced environment and adapt to frequent changes
  • Ability to understand and follow both written and verbal instructions in English with high level of detail
  • Physical requirements: ability to work 8+ hour shifts, lift and carry up to 50 pounds, stand and/or stoop for prolonged periods of time and perform repetitive motions
  • Must be able to work in an environment with varying hot (110 degrees) and cold (-40 degrees) temperatures
  • Must be able to get to work independently on time, every day

Nice To Haves

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred
  • Experience or training in ammonia refrigeration systems highly preferred
  • Experience with boilers cooling towers and other utility systems preferred
  • Experience with waste water treatment plants is preferred
  • Must be able to work pre-scheduled Day or Night shifts – schedules created with plenty of notice

Responsibilities

  • Perform repairs and preventative maintenance and troubleshooting of all plant refrigeration systems (ammonia) and refrigeration equipment
  • Perform boiler and other utilities maintenance
  • Perform waste water treatment plant maintenance
  • Repair or replace defective parts using hand tools and power tools
  • Respond to breakdowns, assess, and coordinate proper resources to address a problem
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, sketches, and engineering drawings related to refrigeration equipment
  • Suggest improvements in work methods and procedures by communicating with Plant Management and production supervisors
  • Initiate purchase orders or work orders for parts, tools, and machines
  • Performs at reasonable speeds, taking full advantage of the equipment available
  • Maintains an understanding of the flow of work on the production floor, from staging, through production, to storage
  • Demonstrate good communication skills with production team and upper management when it comes to the status of repairs, equipment, production lines, etc.
  • Completes required paperwork properly, and understands the content
  • Shows an advanced understanding and application of in-house asset management software
  • Understands and shows the ability to abide by applicable OSHA standards and environmental regulations
  • Observe all safety procedures, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and good housekeeping practices
  • Perform general housekeeping duties such as cleaning and washing equipment, maintaining clean work areas and production facility
  • Additional responsibilities and duties as assigned by supervisors or Plant Management
