About The Position

This role is responsible for monitoring building equipment for safety and performing repairs. Key duties include troubleshooting refrigeration, HVAC, mechanical, and electrical problems, documenting solutions, and making recommendations for further action. The position requires maintaining a high technical level in troubleshooting and maintenance of mechanical and electrical equipment, managing communications for service calls, and ensuring compliance with state and local codes through current licenses, inspections, permits, and certificates. The technician will also operate EMS building controls and automation systems, fine-tuning operating parameters, adjusting set points and schedules, and understanding/modifying building control sequences. Administrative tasks include ordering materials, writing purchase orders, and data entry for work and refrigerant leak reports using company-provided electronics. All duties must be performed in a timely, efficient, and professional manner, maintaining a neat, clean, and safe work area.

Requirements

Must be willing to work overtime on weekends, holidays, and after-hours when on call.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Able to perform duties with a high degree of accuracy and care to avoid mechanical breakdowns.
Able to respond to direct and radio requests as soon as possible.
Able to maintain proper neat uniform appearance of Company provided work shirt and employee provided clean blue jeans without holes or tears.
Wear required Personal Protective Equipment as required including arc flash and safety glasses.
Must be computer literate.
Must possess a valid driver’s license.
Must possess an EPA Section608 Universal Certification.
Ability to read and comprehend manuals, prints, and work orders.
Knowledge of tools and equipment maintenance.
General record keeping skills.
Customer service orientation and sensitivity to diverse needs of coworkers, employees, and other persons contacted in the daily course of work.
Ability to work independently.

Graduate of building related vocational-technical programs are preferred.

Responsibilities

Make daily mechanical checks on equipment in the Mechanical Room, Roof, HVAC, EMS systems, refrigerated cases, and walk-ins.
Maintain and repair all refrigeration, HVAC, EMS systems, electrical, and mechanical systems.
Perform preventative maintenance tasks, leak checks, inspections, and record required information.
Maintain jurisdictionally applicable records, EPA forms, and required documentation.
Monitor preventive maintenance work done by outside contractors and notify the Area Refrigeration Manager of any issues.
Troubleshoot refrigeration, HVAC, mechanical, and electrical problems, perform repairs, document solutions, and recommend further action.
Manage communications for service calls in a timely manner.
Maintain current license, inspection, permit, and certificate requirements to meet all state and local codes.
Operate EMS building controls and automation systems, fine-tune operating parameters, adjust set points and schedules, and modify building control sequences.
Perform administrative tasks such as ordering material, writing purchase orders, and data entry for work reports and refrigerant leak reports.
