About The Position

Skylark Meats, LLC, an American Foods Group Company, has an opportunity for Refrigeration Maintenance at our Omaha, NE plant. This description is not intended to be all-inclusive. Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Must be able to work in the United States without sponsorship.
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Must be able to work in a variety of work temperatures warm, hot, humid, cold, wet or with slippery surfaces at varied heights in and around moving equipment and parts.
  • Must be able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodations.
  • Ability to work extended scheduled hours Monday through Saturday with daily overtime. Must be able to work overtime as required. Start times and hours vary based on production needs.
  • Must be able to successfully complete training: Safety.
  • Must be able to successfully complete training: Safe Quality Food (SQF).
  • Must be able to successfully complete training: Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
  • Must be able to successfully complete training: Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP).
  • Must be able to successfully complete training: Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Must be able to successfully complete training: Food defense.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior maintenance experience in a USDA inspected beef, pork or poultry facility
  • Prior production experience.
  • Work history in the last 12 months.
  • Refrigeration Operator/Boiler Operator Class1 certification

Responsibilities

  • Daily recording of refrigeration equipment, utilities, room temperatures, chilled water softness, and waste water pH.
  • Use required tools and/or equipment to perform skilled level work on ammonia industrial refrigeration system, which includes preventative maintenance, troubleshooting and repairs of all system components.
  • Visual checks of freezer and cooler evaporators and recording issues to be addressed (fans, ice build-up, condensates drains).
  • Make adjustments to the compressor pressure and temperature as needed.
  • Monitor ammonia levels of all accumulators and high-pressure vessels.
  • Mandatory HAZMAT team member.
  • Correct use of Lockout/Tagout procedures.
  • Keep the maintenance shop and all work areas clean and organized.
