About The Position

The applicant is responsible for operating all equipment associated with the Engine Room. Tasks include but are not limited to using hand, power, and maintenance shop tools to do PM’s, adjusting, fabricating, troubleshooting, wiring, welding, repairing and operation of all refrigeration equipment, air compressors, boilers/steam related equipment, potable water system, chilling hogs and room temperatures. Applicants must become familiar with PSM program and all required elements as it relates to the job. Must have the drive and initiative to complete all 8 levels of required Refrigeration and Maint training within the required time frame. Must be willing to take additional training as required by the job. Examples are but not limited to Boilers, Refrigeration, Air Compressors; Electrical. Additional training required to be determined by Refrigeration Supervisor and or Maintenance leadership team. Applicants must also be able to climb ladders to work on various surfaces such as concrete, stainless steel, and brick. Must be willing to manually lift up to 40 pounds. Moderate to heavy pushing/pulling and reaching above shoulder level is required for various tasks include but not limited to items such as evaporator fan replacement, changing valves, replacing fans, replacing wires, and condenser drift eliminators, etc. Applicants must be willing stand and walk the entire duration of the shift. The temperature can reach from -20 to 120 degrees depending on the location in the plant. Applicants must be willing to train and become certified in Hazmat and be a member of the Hazmat Team, which includes securing and maintaining Self Contained Breathing Aparatus (SCBA) qualification and meeting all requirements for wearing an air purifying respirator. Applicants must be trained and be authorized for Lockout /Tagout, Confined Space Entry, Fall Protection, and Forklift Certification. Applicants need to be able to follow all safety rules which include but not limited to following Tyson Core Safety Mandates and wear proper personal equipment. Applicants must be able to communicate effectively with management. Must be able to read and understand manuals, execute and document work completed on daily work orders and PM sheets. All daily work will be determined and assigned by supervisor. Applicants must be able to work assigned shifts, weekends and holidays. This position is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the refrigeration systems while maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to Tyson policies and procedures. This position is responsible for assisting the Supervisor in coordination of the daily responsibilities of the department by ensuring the Supervisor’s instructions are communicated to the team members and carried out timely and correctly. This position is also responsible for the operation and maintenance of the refrigeration systems while maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to Tyson policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Basic knowledge of the refrigeration process, HVAC or industrial.
  • A minimum of 6 months to 1 year experience in 2 of the following: AC/HVAC repair, Welding (mig/tig/stick/torch use), Plasma cutting, Hydraulic experience, Pneumatic experience, Air compressor types and operation, Boilers and basic understanding of how they work, Electrical (110 vac/ 220 vac/ 480 vac/ 3ph wiring), PLC’s (how they work, what they do), I/O and the various types of I/O, sensors (both pressure and temp).
  • Willingness and ability to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.

Responsibilities
