About The Position

This position is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the refrigeration systems while maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to Tyson policies and procedures. The successful candidate(s) must be willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation. Must be able to train in and use Self-Contained Breathing Air Packs. No beards allowed for safety reasons. Perform mechanical refrigeration and electrical duties and make adjustments and repairs. Manually able to grease, change oil, and clean various plant equipment. Monitor equipment and computer boards. Trouble-shoot mechanical problems using detailed schematics and blueprints. Must be able to work safely to ensure proper usage of ammonia and other equipment. Work other shifts when necessary. Must be able to understand and agree to follow Safety Rules (ie. Lockout/Tagout) Must be able to comply with OSHA standards. Saturday and Sunday work required. Work very closely with other refrigeration and maintenance personnel in order to receive and pass along information concerning the job. Must be able to work with other devices that are very fragile and require precise attention. All other duties as requested by the supervisor.

Requirements

  • At least 3 months of refrigeration maintenance experience.
  • Enrollment in a maintenance / mechanical program can be considered in lieu of experience.
  • Willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.
  • Able to train in and use Self-Contained Breathing Air Packs.
  • No beards allowed for safety reasons.
  • Good hand-eye coordination.
  • Capable of moving equipment, machinery, etc., in excess of 50 pounds when needed.
  • Able to work on and inspect equipment, which may involve bending, turning, stooping, twisting, and climbing.
  • Able to move freely throughout the plant (indoors and outdoors) over and around equipment, people and obstacles.
  • Able to tolerate climates ranging from very cold to very hot and from very wet to very dry.
  • Able to communicate and get along well with others.
  • Able to climb ladders.
  • Able to reach, lift and work overhead.
  • Able to walk, stand or sit for the duration of the shift.
